The point was about Politicians not General. Diana comes form a world where those make the decision to go to war still lead the troops on the battlefield. What's more, many British generals were killed in action, serving from the front lines. The British army as "Lions lead by Donkey's" is a myth. The BBC has a great article on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zq2y87h

Re: Wonder Woman!!!!!
Saw it on opening night, loved it. I heard that DC didn't expect it to do so well and didn't secure more movies with Patty Jenkins, giving her a better bargaining position for future movies.
As I heard someone say, Diana represented everything good about feminity, while Steve represented everything good about masculinity, without going for any really bad turns of, "this is why women/men are better", or the Zack Snyder's approach of "Real heroes kill anything in their path".
Has anyone read Joss Whedon's script from a decade ago? Apparently it's quite awful.

Good characters make good films, and each of Diana's allies was a worthy companion! Not sure if my favourite was Captain Kirk and his motorcycle antics, or the larger-than-life The Chief.
Doctor Poison was good - and the whole concept very relevant to the WWI setting and well executed. On the other hand "General Ludendorff" may as well have been named Colonel Fritz von Schnitzelkraut. Drive-by namedropping at best, hardly a serious interpretation of a real historical person. Indeed, overall the portrayal of Germans lacked empathy, seemingly against the film's message.

I immediately took him to be another Ludendorff as he didn't look ANYTHING like the real man, and didn't exactly act like him either. . .PerrySimm wrote:Doctor Poison was good - and the whole concept very relevant to the WWI setting and well excecuted. Re: Wonder Woman!!!!!
They actually dehumanized the Germans by not showing their faces in many scenes where they had to be fought by casting them into shadow or hiding them behind masks. But that's just Hollywood in general.
We must dissent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwqN3Ur ... l=matsku84

Then after the fighting was over, they pulled off the masks and revealed they were just a bunch of kids. For once, I think they were using those masks to make a point.Robovski wrote:They actually dehumanized the Germans by not showing their faces in many scenes where they had to be fought by casting them into shadow or hiding them behind masks.
