Cats (2019) Dear God WHY?!

As many of you likely know I'm not a fan of the Disney Era of Star Wars but I will be honest I don't consider any thing from the Disney Era to be BAD, just disappointing. I do think there are some bad elements that I do hate (chief amongst them being Luke considering killing his own nephew in his sleep) but in all honest those moments are few and far between and I do respect anyone who's a fan of the series and can at least see why it has so many fans.

But the 2019 adaptation of Cats... yeah, That's a BAAAD Film and to explain why here's a video essay from Lindsay Ellis on why it's such a TERRIBLE Film.

Cats is one of those rare films that is honestly and Truly Bad in every possible way and will likely go down in film history as a one of the worst films ever made, on par with Battlefield Earth and Plan 9 from Outer Space. It fails as a musical, it fails as an adaptation, it fails as a film and the poor people who had to make the effects for this film. They were given some of the worst conditions to work with and were then thrown under the bus despite them being the least responsible for how the bad the film turned out.

Again, for all my issues with Star Wars right now it's Citizen Kane by comparison to what we got with Cats.

One of the women providing voices for the negative reviews in the montage of hate portion of Lindsay Ellis and Angelina Meehan's video is Maggie Mae Fish, another youtuber who did an hour long video about Cats... But really more the focus is on TS Elliot, the poet whose work inspired the show. And how he is a problematic artist.

Cats is one of those musicals that just doesn't work as movie and this is made worse by VFX needed to make actual actors look like humanoid cats. This movie proves that humanoid cats only work in animation like Thundercats (both 80's one and cancelled 2011 one).

Likewise, a fan of the poems who hates the Musical for not being true to the spirit of the poems makes sense. And a fan of the original musical hating the new version makes sense.

Fans of the original whingeing about the new version makes sense.

All I'm seeing here is people saying "I don't like this genre."

But it would br more appropriate since the anti-voyager fandom reacts to Neelix like trying to wash Janeway's profanity out with Borg-infused soap, along with trying to get her to open that literal hell-mouth of hers. I have no idea WHERE she pulled that phaser shawn-off from but god bless me for NOT knowing where it was hiding?!
