The Last of Us Part 3 Predictions (Spoilers for TLOU2)

I'm honestly just curious to see what everyone will think will happen for TLOU3 after the... polarizing TLOU2 and it's... ending. I doubt anyone is really that interested in a sequel right now given TLOU2 reception and it will be interesting to see what Naughty Dog does after this.

My bet is that TLOU takes an Extended break, (say about 5 years) and ND focuses on other series to try and win as much good will as they can back. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the next ND game was another Uncharted game or even Jak and Daxter game if they Really want to get back into fans good graces. Then, once all the bridges have been rebuilt then they might think about a TLOU3 in which I suspect that 2 things will happen.

1: They just reboot TLOU2 that writes the Original TLOU2 off as a bad idea and move on with the series like Part 2 never happened. At this stage I think most fans would be completely behind that idea as I doubt many TLOU fans want to be reminded of Part 2.

2: They don't reboot anything and just try and move the series forward with what they've got and hope for the best in which case I suspect the following with happen. Abby will be killed, probably in the first hour, if not the first few minutes of the game and said death will be as gruesome and as nasty as possible and will likely by Ellie.

I would put my bet on option 2 cause I don't see ND rebooting any of their series but I wouldn't be surprised if option 1 is Strongly considered. Thoughts?

I predict they will crank out another ASAP since this is a huge success and the story is great if you actually play it than just follow the spoilers. I predict Ellie will be the protagonist with some minor gun issues because of her mutilation but a special glove to compensate.

And she'll be AWESOME as heroine.

I think given how badly TLOU 2 split the fanbase, I think that a third game will NEVER reach the success of the first two games. It certainly will never regain the level of hype that this game had.

You speak of trying to get the fans back into good graces, but there is essentially no reason at all for fans of Joel to ever play this franchise again. And I will point towards Star Wars as proof of what happens when you piss off a fandom - how long ago was TFA and TPM and fans are still warring over it? Seriously, they could make TLOU 3 the greatest game in human history and all you'll hear is ''you fucked up Joel'' and it'll lose millions of sales immediately.

This series is done. What a terrible, stupid design decision they made. All they needed to do was to give us Joel and Ellie grown up and it would have sold like hot bread with nary a criticism.

The reverse is true, as well, though, that some fans, like voters, have a selective memory due to their own cognitive biases. LF's big issues are the lack of respect for fans, you can see in how they talk, it's very patronizing, but people think it only came after 2017. Naw. This goes back decades.

The problem with this argument is that if you were only fans of a game for a single character you weren't exactly a fan were you? The argument here is that you now have no reason to watch Star Wars again if you were an Obi-Wan fan. Even then, that's not true as you could easily do a Joel-focused Prequel.

How so? That is a lofty declaration you just made without providing examples.
