Well, there certainly won't be a Black Panther 2, or at least one featuring Boseman.

It's terrible. This should have been the start of his career, not the end.

If Phase 4 has a problem, it won't be wokeness, it'll be a loss of identity.

People have been forecasting the end of the MCU for years but that nevertheless does not stop the fact that every bubble eventually bursts no matter how strong that bubble is. And if ANYTHING is going to do it, its the loss of the original Avengers. New Captain America, Iron Heart, Female Thor - they have a lot to prove and in a short space of time. And I can tell you this much: none of them were as popular in the comics as the original characters were. Not one of them.

I also have to note that I really do not see where the MCU can go from Endgame. Fact is that it was much more than merely the biggest superhero battle we've ever seen. It was also the emotional build-up of 15 years of movies coming to a head. I don't think the MCU will ever be able to replicate this film in the same way that the Terminator franchise will ever be able to replicate Terminator 2. Its been, its gone, and they need new tricks.

My prediction is a sad one, but I think based on every other long running franchise in Hollywood, it is not an unfair one: the MCU will end up as a zombie that trundles on for the rest of time. A new film will come out every year and make enough money for the next one, but its crown as being the ''Star Wars of this generation'' will lose its gleam and slowly rust.

I don't quite feel a zombie becoming in the future.

I believe Disney has a secret pie of market focus (like a deathstar in the Hollywood world), and can focus it on large yet specific groups, which is part of how they bought Marvel and LF around the same time, not to mention Fox. They've had this kind of diversification in the past, just not as prominent.

If there is a less prominent sub genre within the comic fan industry that they can merge with a Blockbuster movie then it happens just like that, as if a million clearspiras were screaming all at once with one movie.

Yes Disney does seem to be heading in the direction of ditching Woke everything....and for a simple enough reason: Money.

I silly idea was that if you made everything "So Woke" that all the billions of "invisible fans" would come out of nowhere and buy your movie and merchandise. And a Woke Mom would not just buy her special daughter a Rae lunchbox...but she'd be like 12 as she was So Woke.

That did not happen.

The Woke stuff sold "ok".....but, well, not that amazing. And right next to it....all the Non-Woke Stuff, well it sold a lot better.

I mean, surely no one is that fucking stupid?
Well Charles, I hope you were prepared for disappointment.

Doesn't quite beat:

"When did Star Wars become antifa?"

and

"When did Star Trek become so SJW?"

But it's close.

Ah yes, that trustworthy example of journalistic integrity known as Doomcock

With such hot scoops as "Lucas returning to Lucasfilm?"
And "Sequel trilogy to be deleted"

It has noting to do with "who or what" the characters are: it's more about having good characters. Rae wakes ("woke") up one day as The Most Powerful Jedi 4Ever, and then just hangs around. Finn is just a mess of a coward, idiot, fool and joke. Poe, of course, has to be weak and sad, so he does not over shadow the other two.

I for one would have loved to see a good character of a young woman jedi, and I think they missed a great chance to not just go with "Rae daughter of Han and Leia"(AND really, they could have kept evil son Ben and even added evil emperor daughter Raze(and really should had added a son of Luke too). Then they could of had a nice male to female split between force uses(2 each of good and bad).

The "Secret" of Star Wars is that it has a huge fan base....so anything you put out will make money. But that is true with most fan bases. The twist of the secret is that if you put out something good, you will make tons and tons and tons and tons of money. Not only from 'all' the fans, but also everyone else.

And as part of the 'secret', they don't even have to "try" so hard. A very simple direct story of good vs evil with even limited special effects would make a ton of money. The original trilogy sure had limited special effects, and did just fine. Sure like a 1,000 five year olds would be sad as the movie had no 'pew pew CGI', but like a billion adults would like the serious drama, character building , character development, and complicated storytelling.

Kathleen "The Force is Female" Kennedy is still in there, and Lucasfilm recently had a "Diversity and Inclusion" summit. They're still going to discriminate against men behind the camera, too.

I think this is at best a "don't insult the potential audience in social media" kind of thing. I doubt they'll be shifting gears behind the scenes. Maybe the relative success of The Mandalorian will get the writers to focus more on what a character thinks and does than what color they are, their genitalia, or whom they sleep with, but believing that would require me to be optimistic.
