Apparently the Janeway protocol involves venting all the kids into space, as we find out in a simulator. Which is hilarious. It may be a reference to the borg kids.

I just finished watching the first three episodes of Lower Decks, and man, this is my favorite of the Nu-Treks. The humor is on-point, it actually has sensible criticism of the Federation, and it managed to maintain a good amount of the optimism. The entire idea of "second contact" missions is great.

Um, boiled down; fics that are intentionally bad and overflowing with mary sues and dark sues. One in particular, though I don't know if was deleted was Eat My Flesh and Hope to Die, Kirk and co. are exploring a newly acquired planet that has the unfortunate molten titanium rain making the inhabitants live underground. Sadly these people can't harvest well underground because of the densely low temperatures of the water-table so they have to eat. MEAT!

The colony leader is a lazy war veteran who served with Spock on Mars during Satellite Design and was called to the armory division when Klingons decided to destroy the Western ridge of Starfleet. Ambiguousness happens and Leader Jacobs is forcing people to eat for their new lifestyle.

Hints of cannibalism in the 4 to 6 chapters and Kirk, alone, decides to investigate, he confronts Jacobs before he kills a eye + nose blind elderly woman and he feels for Jacobs force of desperation before cpt.8 ends on long haitus.

Extremely interesting fic but the way Kirk is glorifed sickens me, along with increased lack of emotional control of McCoy and Sulu. Even giving Sulu a near racist laugh description!?

I pray that fic get updated or best adopted and cared for.

The Janeway Protocol is a strategy to deal with a ship being threatened by a temporal rift, based on Janeway having enough interactions with time-shennanigans, that she likely would've developed quite some experience with how to deal with such situations. In this case, it leads to all the children of the ship being unceremonially spaced. It's a throw-away joke based somewhat on lore, with some meta-commentary. It's nothing more, it's nothing less and completely meaningless except being the vessel for a meh joke.
