Okay, before I say anything I just want to say I HATE when series name their title of their upcoming story the title of the series. I get it when it's intended to be a remake set in a new continuity but when it's set in the same continuity be it a sequel or prequel and it's named Series Title. It's not creative, it's not original it's just ANNOYING!!!
Now, how much this applies to the upcoming projects is unknown but it did bug me that the titles given for the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect games were just Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I mean COME ON!!! Both of these games are a big deal otherwise BioWare wouldn't have had them released at the Gaming Awards. Just call give them a subtitle or a Number, don't just call them by the name of the series when they're both clearly continuations of said series.
That being said my actual reaction to both Trailers for Dragon Age 4 and Mass Effect 4 (we're just going to ignore Mass Effect: Andromeda) was SQUEE!!!
I mean it. For all my problems with Mass Effect 3 I'm still interested in seeing how the series plans to go and I'm hoping that BioWare will find it's footing and work to mend bridges with fans. Now I actually love Dragon Age: Inquisition and still consider it to be my favorite BioWare game but I get why other fans have issue with it and hopefully DA4 will be a game we can all enjoy.
But, yeah, it was great to see that two of my favorite series are on their way back and I hope that MEA and Anthem were just a glitch that BioWare won't repeat, at least for a while. And if they aren't as good as what came before we still got the Original ME Trilogy being remastered for the PS4 and I still love DAI and I look forward to the likely arrival of the remasters and possible remakes of DA1 & DA2 and hopefully Knights of the Old Republic and (please Universe) Jade Empire.

Ok, just watched them. Have to admit I got excited for the Dragon Age one. It's totally in Tevinter right?
Is Varric gonna be a companion again? I don't know but I feel excited at the very least.
Hey, just a thought, maybe the series could have a sequel series(provided they are successful obviously) called Griffon age to herald the return of the griffons or something?
As for the Mass effect one, well Liara's alive. That is something. I just hope they let us have some control or input on the damn ending to ME3 but that's probably a lost cause. Still, cautiously optimistic though, and it seems they are going forward since they had the reaper sound in it, so that's good.

Re: BioWare's Dragon Age and Mass Effect 4?
They should name it Mass Effect 5 and retroactively make Andromeda Mass Effect 4.

Makes perfect sense and I hope you're enjoying it regardless.Beelzquill wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 6:15 am I'm Still reading parts of it. I wanted to read the entire rest of it before commenting on it because I feel like I read it in full before talking about it. Sorry.
MEA was written as a spin-off so I don't think it would really work and I'm 99.99% certain that MEA will never be mentioned again or, at the very least, it will be a long time before anyone mentions it. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming ME game is called Mass Effect 4 to make it as clear as possible that MEA is not considered canon.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 6:27 am They should name it Mass Effect 5 and retroactively make Andromeda Mass Effect 4.
I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a mention of the Andromeda mission and it getting an off hand mention to have ended badly as both a Take That Us and to make it clear that the series wouldn't try to acknowledge it beyond to make it clear that it's not coming back.

Well it takes place a 100 years in the future from ME so it's not like that if this is set during the Shepard era that it would be able to interact.
Re: BioWare's Dragon Age and Mass Effect 4?
The problem they'll have with dealing with the ending is how the hell do you move on past it without making one of the endings canon? And if you do that you'll not get around upsetting someone. I wouldn't be surprised if the main reason for Andromeda was to dodge that issue and move the setting there permanently, at least until that game failed.Beelzquill wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 5:49 am As for the Mass effect one, well Liara's alive. Who said MEA is not considered canon? Sure, it had its issues (most of the story didn't make all that much sense) but I really don't think it was a terrible game, and if it wasn't for the rest of Mass Effect I think the worst it would've got was a shrug and "Yeah, that was OK" but be mostly forgotten by people.Winter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 6:33 am MEA was written as a spin-off so I don't think it would really work and I'm 99.99% certain that MEA will never be mentioned again or, at the very least, it will be a long time before anyone mentions it.
