It all comes down to what Disney wants. And Disney wants to make money, especially now. The Original Trilogy sells. The Sequel Trilogy does not. If they think a do over will make money at the box office and in stores, Disney will do it.
They might even have suggested they figure out how time travel can work in Star Wars and bring Ashoka back as a guinea pig because she also sells.
