I've been reading the manga adaptation of the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and I have, mixed feelings about it. There are a lot of elements in said manga that I'm not a fan of like the inclusion of plot points and characters that weren't involved in key parts of the story and, IMO, aren't very well utilized in the manga itself. Link's character in the manga is a pretty generic Anime Hero and there's a LOT of padding.
However, it does get a lot right and even does somethings that the game never did that I think adds to the story. For starters there is a LOT more ship teasing in this story between Link and Midna who still rank as my favorite Zelda couple (Link and Zelda in Skyward Sword are a close second) but the manga also teases that Midna and Zelda have a thing for each other and are retconned into being childhood friends with a number of moments hinting that the two see each other as more then friends.
There's a LOT more moments of Midna being almost physically intimate with both Link and Midna to the point that the two often end up blushing around her. In one of the more "Resent" issues (this manga started in 2017 I think and we've only JUST hit the half way point of the story) when Zelda is speaking with Ganondorf Zelda speaks of both Link and Midna in the way she usually only talks about Link and again there are a LOT of hints that this is being presented as her being romantically interested in both of them.
Am I over analyzing this, maybe I AM a romantic but there are moments when it sure as Hell feels like the writer is teasing as Link x Midna and Midna x Zelda. There are at least 3 moments with both Link and Zelda where Midna touches them in a rather flirty way and all parties involved get more then a little distracted For crying out loud Link and Midna were to busy staring into each others eyes at one point that they forgot about the monster that was about to eat Link, & Zelda and Midna spend a whole 3 pages staring at each other while Midna is holding Midna's hand and telling her how much she wanted to tell her when they were kids how Midna was her most valued treasure. I'm not kidding!
Thus we come to something I would like to see in future Zelda games, Midna returning and not only becoming a series regular but also involved in something of a Polyamory relationship with Link and Zelda (likely only to ever be implied and never stated out loud because The Legend of Zelda NEVER confirms romantic relationships in the main cast).
The potential of the dynamic alone is something that would be fun enough on its own as you would have Midna teasing both Link and Zelda, Zelda trying to be patient with Midna and Link just trying to keep them all from dying. It also would be interesting to see how Zelda and Midna handle negotiations as Midna is often shown to preferring to just blackmail those she meets while Zelda is more willing to be diplomatic.
The three working together in gameplay could also be fun to, no pun intended, play around with. I for one like the idea of Link as the Warrior (duh) Midna as the mage and Zelda, as odd as this may sound, as the rogue as two of her most famous incarnations (Sheik and Tetra) are presented as rogues. This would make them a pretty balanced party but it would mean that Link would have less weapons shoved down his pants.
There's also the underlining joke of how dialogue is used. Midna is a character who always has something to say, Link is famously known as the strong silent type while Zelda is talks more often then Link but less often then Midna.
I know this is unlikely to happen but given that Breath of the Wild's Sequel is rumored to have Zelda as the games companion and Breath of the Wild basically going F it when it comes to the series rules and lore it's possible, however improbable, that Midna could return and give us shack of the series core dynamic where instead of the usual Link, Zelda and Ganondorf we throw the Twilight Princess in there and turning the iconic trio into a quartet.
