I've said it before, I'm firmly against mixing canons. Historically that's never worked well for the SWU. It's different for COIE since that was the domain of the comics back in '86. The old EU wouldn't translate well into what they want as overseen by LF past a few, occasional crossovers in a niche genre. Something more like the old Tales comics where young Luke once met young Annie. I think using either universe to influence change in the other, especially with a TV show or movie, is a mistake, given the lack of continuity in DSWC. It's just not what they want, given the fan criticisms they've had already.

That, and nobody at LF really understands the EU or is beholden to follow its guidelines and work within the timeline, hence why it was jettisoned in the first place. To me, it just sounds like a disaster in the making, especially if you're using the WBW to directly make potentially unwanted timeline changes.

I'd prefer some SWL Marvel event for the 50th, like 108. That would be pretty cool. Maybe even a whole SWL comic mini-series.
