Frankly I'd be surprised if any of the yahoos in charge would let a decent Superman movie get out of pre-production Tartarus.
So you can understand creagtives and investors not trying?

Why are they yahoos?

Lois and Clark rocked.

Anyway, this was going to happen, guys. Cavill wanted out as early as the Justice League reshoots, and DC has already basically fired Affleck (Union rules mean they can't while he's in rehab, but everybody knows he's toast the moment he gets out), they're re-casting as fast as they can to rebuild it around Wonder Woman since all DC execs understand is numbers on a spreadsheet.

Which is stupid because Wonder Woman's main selling point was being 2/3 of a decent movie, but that's more than Batman vs. Superman or Suicide Squad were.

In all honesty? Man of Steel could have been so much better if they only bothered to show a hopeful, optimistic, instinctively altruistic Superman. Instead, Snyderman spends most of the movie being told he's space Jesus (which is fundamentally not what Superman is), and being told only to help people if they worship him (thanks, Pa SnyderKent, you selfish asshole). That poisoned the DCEU from the get-go because it was impossible to like Snyderman or care when he suffered a setback.

I don't recall that part.

I very much agree with the sentiment that Cavill is the least of DC's problems. WB rushed into this DC universe after seeing Marvel do it while making all the money. WB thought they could do the same and it be a big hit no matter what they pushed out, they didn't heed any of the rude awakenings they got post Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, and instead doubled-down which has pulled them deeper into this mess.

Superhero movies are 10 a penny these days, so you just can't push out any old mess, it's got to be done pretty well and hit certain marks to even have a chance of doing decently. All the more so when you throw in general audience fatigue and boredom at all these squeal/prequel/re-boot/re-envisionments. We've had 4 different on-screen Supermans in 12 years (Routh/Welling/Cavill/Hoechlin) 3 Spidermans in 10 years (Maguire/Garfield/Holland) and more than likely a 4th Batman in 7 years.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of the constant changing, especially after a suit deems something has "failed" therefore just start it all again with completely new people and that will somehow make it a big smash success this time.

One rumor has Michael B Jordan in the running to play Superman...so an artist rendered him as Val-Zod who took up the mantel in one of DC's alternate universes.

Jordon playing Val-Zod is not a bad idea. Originally Superman was representative of the immigrant experience...but he's become so associated with America that now he's lost that aspect. Having Val-Zod arrive and try to find his way could actually work.

Personally though, I'd rather get Static Shock, Icon or Mr. Terrific (preferably played by Idris Elba).

Superman, if focusing on the character of Clark Kent, can be quite a compelling character. Show how even he has limits, and questions how far he should go regarding saving people. Have him stop fires, rescue people, etc, while also showing that he's wondering if he could do more via being proactive, and what the line is before he can have a life of his own. Show how being Clark Kent is his him doing what he loves, while being Superman is him being responsible with the gifts he's been given.

Lois and Clark, the goofy TV show from the 90s, did this well, in that it showed that Clark genuinely loves writing and competing with Lois over a story, and helping others. He just prefers doing it as a reporter rather than a guy in tights. But he does both, because he has to.

The masquearadiong as journo thing while romancing a chick as Supe thing...

I guess he has a domination/humiliation fetish and it excites him or something.

It's so weird in 2018.
