This looks like it will work, because it is about an original character, but contains the trappings of the franchise that have been shown to be popular.
It is also not about a planet destroying super weapon.
Blimey someone on here likes the new trilogy?
Honestly, the amount of bitching is just baffling to me.
At a certain point I have to assume what marks someone as a "fan" of Star Wars is their capacity to complain about Star Wars.

I've seen 7 and 8 twice each, and liked them each time. People seem to dislike things that I like in the movies, so whenever somebody tells me, "This thing was so bad..." I have just started to tune them out.

There is a never ending font of genre fiction in the world now I have no idea how anybody has time to hate anything for more than a few minutes.
It's Disney. Managed to make both ESPN and friggin Star Wars a partisan political hellscape.

Because people who like it aren't motivated to rant on forms at any excuse for an opportunity.

I'm glad they really trying to truly 'expand' the yniverse. Whose willing to bet that Kathleen Kennedy will be blamed if this goes wong yet not thanked if it goes right?
I hope Dsiney blackmailed her into silence and someone else is in charge behind the scenes.
Um, then wby renew her contract for several more years? Is the concept of a producer doing things you both like and dislike so completely foreign?

Rick Berman helped gave me Deep Space Nine (yay!) but also Enterprise (nay...)

ENT was badly executed. It was not a stab at killing the essence of Trek and i bet those creators acted more like adults in a less insane pop culture journalistic culture.

Well you don't really give enough context to a lot of your statements.

Hard to have any conversation though if we don't really know where anyone's coming from.

And I'm mot claiming to have never left those impressions myself in places.
