Is it possible the reason Trek is doing so poorly is because of Doctor Who? Think about it, there's this kind of weird inverse law going on here. TOS was good, but Doctor Who outlived it by decades. Then as Doctor Who is canceled, TNG begins to grow the beard and get good. That becomes a major media juggernaut, then as Enterprise sucks and is winding down, Doctor Who becomes back and proves to be an even bigger hit on the same level as the media juggernaut 1990s Trek was. Is there some kind of bleed-off effect going on?

I dunno, I think DISCO is doing better. I don’t watch Doctor Who. I leave that to NERDSSS.

It's obviously failing Python, shows I don't like are automatically doing so.

Doctor Who is being written by fans at this point, or so I hear, and so it could be argued it's similar to DS9 was in the 1990s. As for STD, they claim they're fans worrying about continuity behind the scenes, but their actions betray their words, and what they put on the screen contradicts that. They don't strike me as fans so much as people just saying that to save their public image. Kurtzman especially. He really thinks there are still big companies in the Federation and that they've just been "nationalized" ala the USSR. Bah.

Hey, Scotty rocked that skirt.
Scotty, did. Maybe it's a matter of fashion that Scotty got a pass and the TNG "minidress" skant got laughed at.

Fun little fact, they used a real Clan Scott tartan for that.

I do like Sirtis referring to TNG version as the “cheerleader” uniform. It’s the short sleeves that really give that impression.

Come to think of it, that's what the female version of the Abrams Trek uniform was, too.

There is no reason by the 23rd century men would not be wearing skirts in all seriousness. We've gone from homosexuality being illegal to widespread gay marriage in a 100 years. We've gone from black segregation to a black president in 50. To suggest that men will start wearing skirts in 200 is not unlikely and I for one have no problem with it.

You only get one first impression. Look at No Man's Sky. It doesn't matter how good it eventually gets, people do not forget those original feelings of betrayal. STD for so many fans is a dead franchise walking and that's a fact.

I don't think it's failing to deliver at all. I like all the characters, I found most of the plot threads satisfying thus far
