I have so little faith, I don't expect them to bring up Braxton or Daniels. With that said, it's possible they pay a bit of lip service to that. But I really do think they wanna try their own thing. In fact... why isn't STD being canceled? Now, listen to me, bear me out, this isn't mindless fanboy rage. Because it strikes me as odd to make such a radical change to the show. Not even TNG changed that much from Season 1 to Season 7 past getting better. But this is literally travelling a millennium into the future. Granted, it's interesting, but you'd think they would have canned STD, given the backlash, and then rebranded it something new, and started another series. CBS has the cash. Am I missing something here?

That pretty much frees the writers to do anything they want, with the only thing set in stone being the Discovery at some point having been abandoned by her crew and she having gained consciousness, as shown in the short “Calypso”. Lots of questions of what the state of the galaxy will be by the 33rd century.

So now it seems that final scene with Pike, Spock, and Number One was, at least for the time being, our farewell to the 23rd century.
Is it even set in stone? Or was it just a "what if" story, like Voyager had at least twice? One thing is sure, 950 years in the future Discovery will be outdated. Unless the galaxy suffered some kind of Dark Age. The Federation is gone, there are no great empires and races are fighting each other. Then Discovery could be a powerful ship. It would be like Andromeda but in Star Trek. The crew of the Discovery could try to recreate a new Federation to fight the new big bad of the show. The V'draysh?

Oh, and what will happen with the Section 31 show with Michelle Yeoh? Georgiou was on the Discovery when it entered the temporal wormhole.

Yeah all their Section Thirty-Drone ships merged into a cube after Mirror Airiam's nanoprobes took them over, they used red matter to open up an unstable wormhole around it and fling the wreckage across the other side of the galaxy.

Yeah, then the photon torpedo exploded but Pike absorbed the explosion with his face and got all messed up so they had to put him in that chair setup.

I like how they spored in to the middle of the cube and fired their way out. It was a nice homage to the Voyager finale.

A shame Stamets got injured by Discovery's roller coaster though. I don't know why they put that there...

Yeah I know right? But what was most shocking was the reveal that Michael Burnham was Future Guy all along. I guess at some point she became vengeful and delusional that she decided there should be no Federation all because of her jealousy over Spock’s friendship with Kirk. By preventing the Federation from happening she will prevent their friendship from happening too! :o

The sad thing is that whilst I am smart enough to notice sarcasm, and smart enough to check Memory Alpha before I comment further, I actually would not be surprised. Surely that is STDs ultimate sin: you never get a second first impression.

All of it is true. Especially the lies.
