[Star Wars] The NuCanon Positivity thread
Re: [Star Wars] The NuCanon Positivity thread
While I do have a few issues with how he was handled in the show I think Rebels NAILED Grand Admiral Thrawn. I love his performance, his theme and how he handled threats. As for the films, I'll admit that I do like TFA and TLJ IS beautifully shot, and Rouge One's ending battle was just a great ride start to finish. Sure I may have issues with the Disney Era but I'll give credit where credit is due.

I like Star wars rebels.
Re: [Star Wars] The NuCanon Positivity thread
Yes, how Thrawn was handled in Rebels was perfect. Most of that is must be thanks to Dave Filoni who was behind Rebels as well as final seasons of TCW. He also found way to remove Thrawn so that that wouldn't leave plot holes when it comes to OT.Winter wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 1:53 am While I do have a few issues with how he was handled in the show I think Rebels NAILED Grand Admiral Thrawn. Yes, gonna post here, and not even trash NuCanon or cite Legends (past this). I've said over and over I feel NuCanon is worth a chance, even if it's not exploding with wildly fresh and new concepts and ideas, there is a few things to love. I do genuinely enjoy the concept of Starkiller Base, a planet-sized Death Star, though I find it funny they fudge the size of the thing, like, how could a hollowed out planet be 600 km in diameter? Death Stars seem plagued by that (120/160 vs. 160/900 km, anyone?). I also will insist I love Luke's portrayal in NuCanon simply out of principle (because they wanted Luke to be the new Obi-Wan/Yoda, of course he would have to fail in recreating the Jedi Order like how they had done in the prequels), as it's a new take past the predictable and well-worn and tired, even if you wanna say the execution might be sloppy (I've created a whole thread dedicated to this).

That's very mature of you, Yukaphile.
One area I'm going to also credit the NuCanon with is the comic books. While it's easy to have Marvel comics do comics correctly, they've spun off some really good fiction since taking over and I think they're every bit as good as Dark Horse was doing (if a bit less ambitious). Doctor Aphra and Darth Vader are my two favorites so far. I love Doctor Aphra as a character and I hope they put her in a movie somewhere.
Hire Jaime Chung or Olivia Munn for the role.
Also, while I'm not a fan of Poe Dameron, I love his comic that just captures the fun of the old X-wing ones.

I've said over and over NuCanon is worthy to exist. I just consider Legends a complete timeline, one that's ended, while NuCanon is still being built. I think that's completely fair.

Things I liked in the new releases. . I liked Rogue One. Yes the gritty feeling. I wanted to hug them for the whole "We have done terrible things. If we give up now. It was all for nothing." I cried. Heck the feeling of the scene is making me tear up as I write this. THAT was excellently done. The first half of Force Awakens. I loved Finn and Rey. She was tempted by the 'wealth' offered for the droid. But her morals won. Finn being a good person despite being a Storm Trooper. Even his struggling with the classic controls of the Falcon's turret. It was a love story for the originals. His sheer competence made me happy and her need to not jump at the call to adventure made me like her.

I appreciate the Nu Cannon for trying to make the setting make sense with a more protracted era of Imperial Remnants 'which too be fair once the Vong were gone... the old EU kept trying to find some way to reignite the old Republic vs Empire conflict'
Its a shame that all the groundwork is effectively ignored the moment someone with a blank check is just trying to rehash the OT

NuCanon is the Sequels and Disney. This a thread to get away from all the negativity in other threads about TFA, TLJ, and leaving behind Legends.Wargriffin wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 2:32 pm I appreciate the Nu Cannon for trying to make the setting make sense with a more protracted era of Imperial Remnants 'which too be fair once the Vong were gone... the old EU kept trying to find some way to reignite the old Republic vs Empire conflict'

This is unpopular, but I like the cleaning-and-picking of the EU for the new canon. While the EU had some gems, it was full of muck and disconnected plots. By cleaning it up, Lucas Films can take whatever they think is good and add it to the new canon. This includes things as small as vehicles (TIE Defender) or as big as characters (Dash Rendar, Grand Admiral Thrawn).
