Happy to have read it. I guess I understand your point about Aria. Now that you mention the Last Samurai, I get why you went where you went with the Asari. I'm personally not sure if that works, but it's still better than getting punked by Kai Leng out of nowhere. By the way, I wasn't really criticizing the going to ground thing, I completely agree Mass Effect not having a third person shooter segment in the last level would be weird.

Okay... four options:
1: Undo the rushed ending, and reinstate the original leaked "Mass Effect Space Travel is eating stars by creating dark matter and the universe will break if we keep using them" ending, and give the game an extra year of dev time to really nail down the ending.
2: Add at least another year of dev time, and add in a couple more canon based ending possibilities that can be unlocked by completing certain missions, and a golden ending at full readiness.
3: Embrace Indoctrination theory, and have the original bad ending be revealed as a false ending, with the real ending being based on everything you did throughout the trilogy. Also more dev time.
4: Make the fanfiction Discord ending from the MLP Crossover fiction canon, because it's a happy ending that lets Shepherd live.
Also 4: Have the activation of The Crucible alter the universe to be Winnie Effect, where the entire series of Mass Effect is mixed with Winnie the Pooh, and you have Winnie the Shepherd, Eeyore the Elcor ("Resigned sadness. Sigh."), Rabbit the surliest of krogan, Quarian Kanga and her son GethRoo, etc...
AND everything is happy adventures in the 100 acre galaxy, with almost no sadness beyond minor crises that never even require Winnie the Shepherd fire his widow. (or even load it, for that matter.)
I also think it's adorable to have all of the Quarian/Geth wars changed into a child being rambunctious and getting into minor trouble:
Obviously written in order of priority, and descending into silliness by the end.
Oh... and have Kai Leng be killed by Thane early on, with him being replaced by a human equivalent of a collector made from Kai Leng clones. Cybered up to the point where they're not human.

Re: What Woud You Change if You Were Given the Option to Remake Mass Effect 3
I'm honestly not sure beyond broad strokes. I'd honestly go back and change ME2 as well, and lose the whole reboot aspect of it with Shepard working for Cerberus, which I would keep as a rogue deep state agency of some kind. I'd thus use the set-up of the Shadow Broker as an ally of Shepard, with this becoming more solid as the two of them figure out the impending Reaper threat. So, for me, the second game would largely be about finding out the Reapers actually are still a threat, and convincing the galaxy of this even as they congratulate her on preventing the invasion and defeating Sovereign. So the big research project to save the day at the end would have its start here, as would the alliance-building that took up so much of the third game, or at least the diplomatic parts of it. The third game, then, would be about fighting the Reapers, with an invasion that would take a lot longer, as was described by Vigil in the first game. Perhaps part of that might involve foiling the Reapers from taking the Citadel, and/or getting the mass relays to work again - basically overcoming problems by figuring out what happened the last time, which would mean that I'd have to have them find some Prothean scientists, or at least one of them, anyway, who could be a bit more helpful than Javik.
Aside from the ending, on of my biggest disappointments with the third game was that there was very little change in the story from your choices in the previous games. One of the most prominent was that Anderson was back in the military and Udina was the councilor no matter what (and with no explanation even). Other examples are just that, for example, if a character had died in a previous game, they got a nearly identical replacement character who would serve in the same role, and I felt like that was pretty lame. I kind of felt like there should be more consequences from character deaths and choices made, even if it just amounted to options not being available.

Option One for me. When I learned about that change, I automatically thought 'holy hell, EA pulled a GoT Season Eight BEFORE D&D did it'. And look where it got them.Nevix wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 5:50 am Okay... four options:
