Sean Bean! but then they would kill him off at the end of the first season if he was in it anyway. Or after the first Christmas special. I sometimes wonder if he puts that into his contracts so he doesn't get typecast....

Except he is typecast.

He's typecast as the guy who dies. ;)

Fun fact, John Hurt holds the record for most on screen deaths at 45. And he has already been the Doctor.
Vincent Price is number two with 32.
Sean Bean is third with 25.

Now now, Sean Bean doesn't always die; there's Sharpe and then there's...uh...ummm...as I said, there's Sharpe, he doesn't die in those.

He didn't die in the first Percy Jackson movie either. And IIRC he didn't die in Ronin either.

Granted, the first was a piece of shit, but Ronin was actually pretty good.

He also manages to survive not one but two Silent Hill films, of all things.

My first choice would have been John Hurt, and give him the memories of the War Doctor again. I thought that was always an underdeveloped character. Half way through the season guess who appears: Billy Piper as Bad Wolf again! The weapon has a new objective and it is to erase humans from existence now. All a fan's dream now.

Some issues, John Hurt is now dead in the real world.

I think that's what he meant by "All just a fan dream now" ;)

That being said, probably won't be long before the tech has advanced enough to recreate him with CGI and programme the computer to do a decent imitation.

Let the dead stay dead. Stop with all the weird "Polar Express" animation in movies. STOP!
