If I wanted to think the "Legends" stuff was canon, I'd simply do that.
This isn't canon obsession, how do non-EU casuals keep misunderstanding this? It's the refusal to let their business partners continue the EU under the Legends banner.

It's not that it's non-canon that bother me, even though I'd disagree in their assertions it was "always" non-canon. It's the lack of follow-ups, past whatever they cherry-pick to put in the DSWC as easter eggs.

Even Mr. Lucas himself admitted it was the world of the licensing department, and Bantam, Del Rey, Marvel, and Dark Horse have all at one time held the rights. So just let them tell more stories set in that universe. Fans aren't idiots, we know what parallel universes are, and oh! Mr. Lucas himself calls SWL just that.

SWL is a complete timeline, despite whatever myths you've heard online from people who only read a handful of books, played a handful of games, and read a handful of comics. It's basically the SWU's version of the Golden Age for DC, Generation 1 for Transformers, and the Prime Timeline for ST, so there's no reason they couldn't continue it, and the dogmatic mandate for NO LEGENDS has hurt their business partners. They'd like to, but LF won't let them for some reason.

Marvel 108 sold better than most DSW comics at the time, only Galaxy's Edge sold better, and then just bombed the following month, going down from 60,000 units shipped to 20,000, while Marvel 108 was sold out in retailer shops at 40,000 units shipped.

No, we don't make even a splash in the pond to the TV and movie crowds. But below that, in our little sandbox, we actually do make a difference and can make a difference, boycotts are effective at this small level, and I do think it's only a matter of time before SWL is allowed to continue, I just don't want LF to be the ones to do so, they've never handled it well, whether that's G Canon or T Canon. I think the only time it worked was with the Ewoks and Droids cartoons.

But that's a story for another day.

But that doesn't excuse how I acted and if there's one thing I've always agreed with Linkara is always recognize and apologize when you're an @$$. So, I sincerely apologize.
I pointed out in the other thread but I'm not sure you came across it. The review was titled "Look What You Have Made", which is a direct line from Palpatine after absorbing life-force from Rey and Ben, NOT "look what you made me do". You probably thought you read the abusive phase and that might have triggered an emotion.

Is that necessary? Are you able to have a civil discussion without throwing in a sneaky diatribe to fan some flames?

Here is something to consider.

Did the Original Trilogy stand the test of time?

It could just be that i am older and i understand the creative process and story telling a lot more. Maybe it is the matter of taste, but there are movies that came out in the last 15 years that I've already watched more times then the OT and would sooner watch again.

I might be unique in this regard, but I think it is a fair question; is the OT beginning to fade into the past like so many other films?

Obviously it has otherwise no one would be talking about it and other films, not just TDST, would be trying to copy it. Hell, there are still toys of OT Luke still be sold to this day and not as collectors items and I mean in kid stores on shelves in any and all stores that sell to kids. Hell, Noelle Stevenson has stated that they are a huge fan of Star Wars and used as a source of inspiration along with some of the older EU (Mara is actually named after Mara Jade).

I see it like Star Trek The Original Series. Parts of the series are dated but for the most part, like 98%, is still timeless and still loved to this day. With the exception of Lord of the Rings every major Trilogy has worked to copy TOT formula with the first chapter being relatively light-hearted, the second chapter being more dark and the third being a big finally that wraps everything up.

There's a reason Vader has his own trope of other villains trying to copy him, there's a reason that fans were exited to see a film sequel to the Original Trilogy despite having a 30 year gap and why said sequel Trilogy is so contended because many felt it was a poor sequel.

So, I'd have to say, yes TOT has stood the test of time and I'm still looking forward to what Disney and Lucas Film plans on doing for the 50th Anniversary. :D

That was only part of it, the other part was how he blamed fans for how ROS turned out and how he said that enjoying The Mandalorian made them bad fans who were stupid which is a "Classic" abuse tactic. The title, which is a phrase made by a character who IS a abusive towards others, was just salt on the wound.

But people like him that insists that he is right and smarter then everyone else and that anyone who has a different opinion is all the justification he needs to be rude is what got me to act the way I did. Like I said before, I was open minded until he started blaming fans and calling anyone who didn't enjoy what he did idiots for enjoying the fanservice in The Mandalorian.

This is no different then when the worst members of the Star Wars fandom insulted the cast and crew of TLJ and called anyone who enjoyed TLJ self-entitled twats who didn't understand what Star Wars was really about. He says basically that only against TM and fans who enjoyed it.

There is a line, he crossed and acted proud for doing so. He is no different then any of the @$$holes who insulted fans of TLJ and the films creators.

Fair enough, there is also Avatar: The Last Airbender which I liked to describe as 'SW done right.' You can't deny that the OT inspired a generation of artists, writers and directors, but I think a big reasons for its success was just the timing. In 1977, when the first film came out, there was simply nothing like it. Probably the closest thing was 2001: A Space Odyssey, Superman and Alien both came out the year after. Today, what do you compare the Disney's SW to? Basically everything! From the MCU, to the new Godzilla, to Harry Potter, to She-Ra and The Princesses of Power. In 1977 SW was practically unique, today its just one among countless other franchises vying for control of the big and little screens.

You know, Winter brought up a good point. I do wonder what they'll do for the 50th in seven years.

I'm curious to see how fleshed out the DSWC timeline will be then.

Well, in terms of marketing they'll likely be going all out. I mean I honestly wouldn't be surprised it they arrange the lights on Space Ship Earth to look like the Death Star and make every week in Hollywood Studios Star Wars Week or other such silly things that most fans, myself included, would buy up in seconds.

Also, given other major franchises re-releasing the other movies and also re-releasing major titles for their anniversary I'm willing to bet that will see some sort of sell for Old EU stories be it comics, games, novels and TV shows. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Ewok TV Movies and show got a special release to celebrate the 50th Anniversary.

Then, of course, there's the 50th Anniversary proper. My guess is that the major story event hinted at in 2020 will be released around then and that it will mostly likely be one of 3 things. An Adaptation of Heir to the Empire, a Crisis on Infinite Earths event that works to merge all continuities together or just some film/TV Special that is meant to celebrate said Anniversary.

I have to admit, regardless of what happens I'm honestly excited because I doubt Disney is going to pass up missing SW's 50th and it will just be fun to celebrate the series as a whole, even the parts of it I don't enjoy as much. :D
