If anything is a stand in for The Devil it's the Dark Side itself. Palpatine does have depth to his characterization.

Having a Character doesn't change whether Palpy is pure evil or not since alot of what he does is either for Evil's sake or if you must make an argument, He's religion/faith demands it and he whole heartily embraces that 'well almost' since The Sith's mandate is **** the Jedi and oppress the Galaxy cause it belongs to the strong.

Paly's entire character is more religious then politcally motivated... the politics are just the means to an end

Cause there are plenty of pure evil characters that have depth of characterization.

You see the Irony is I like to explain why my view of Satan is different from the traditional view by saying he's more like Sidious and less like Morgoth.

Morgoth is violent over the top evil that wants to break things for the sake of breaking things.... That is an aspect of Satan as the Destroyer

Sidious is more along the lines of Satan the Ruler, wanting to be in charge due to his deranged notion that He deserves to be in charge cause He's the Best that there ever was. just minus the Misguided notion of Milton's that he is still good in some tilt your head and look at it from a weird angle view.

Sidious is basically Lucifer being alot more honest about his actions.

There were, in fact, several Fascist writers and thinkers who disagreed with the purely materialistic/secular nature of the Nazis

The OP is laughable. Not only in how it tries to present Star Wars, but in the demand that it somehow be a "useful tool for fighting facism." I find this especially laughable considering the source of this idea is from an ideology that is quite authoritarian itself.
