There are some people who DO want to be groped in public. Obviously you should do that with a trusted partner, for safety reasons, but hey, everybody's got a kink and that's fine.

Plenty of men have fantasies where a woman randomly kicks them in the balls and plenty of women have rape fantasies.
Number of men and women who would actually want that to happen? low.
What you get off to in the safety of your own head is no one else's business but yours; its when it becomes real life that things become problematic.

And yet, you can't speak for me, can you? I probably wouldn't resist if that happened. Because I really suffer from low self-esteem, and that would be quite ego-boosting. Plus my desperate need for any kind of close human contact.

Take it from me, people saying "that was fucked up of her to do" and "what the hell man?" are usually the ones who also protest about women being groped. The people saying "lol he was lucky" or "why didn't he do more to stop it?" or "he's probably gay"? 9 times out of 10 it's the same people who were saying "What about the MEN, huh?"

Well, if a woman groped a man, a man should be allowed to do whatever a woman can do to a male groper.
There's a word for saying "we get allowed to do this, but you can't." It starts with "hypo." You might be familiar with it.

Re: The Deleted Captain Marvel Scene
As I've said before, if a woman did that to me, I'd probably let her, and feel flattered. Which frankly ties to my own hypocrisy, because if a man just randomly grabbed a woman that way, I tend to think it's wrong. Unwanted touching is unwanted touching, period... damn, this world is pretty crazy. And we're all seriously messed up in the head. Human beings, huh?

Nostalgic for the nuanced and well-characterized storytelling of the EXTREEEEEEME 90s like BludGun and 25 different toy commercials?Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:53 pmI don't think is completely unreasonable to think that today's feminism is why they are shit characters and in the naughties or the 90s someone would have stopped the creatives before putting them out as they are. Fellow creative or a suit.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 7:52 pmOne gets that vibe, though not necessarily from you, but CmdrKing and Mecha82 specifically and I find that pretty examplary for the discussions at large. You can't talk about Rey being a bad character or Captain Marvel being a shithead, without automatically creating a discussion about sexism, even though those characters being female has nothing to do with the complaint in the first place. Yes, it is that toxic and interestingly not just from those who are indeed sexists, but just as much as from the outrage-crowd of the other spectrum. One side jumps to your defense and the other side takes offense at everything.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 6:24 pmAre they or am I specifically calling you sexist though? I personally feel like I've been trying to anchor it to my own take on it without really getting ahead of myself and presuming others' personal directives, though I might have gotten a bit loud at points.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 2:35 pm
The problem of course is that if i do hate the next Cpt Marvel film for legitimate reasons people like you will still pull the sexism card.

And I fully agree with that. A woman who gropes a man without his consent should consider herself lucky to get away with a bloody nose.Darth Wedgius wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 5:32 amWell, if a woman groped a man, a man should be allowed to do whatever a woman can do to a male groper.

I've just seen that brought up way more as a hypothetical counter-argument used to deflect criticism than an actual suggestion somebody is asserting.

Yes, I miss the 1990s. Flaws aside, like the lack of LGBT representation, there were lots of great actors and fully fleshed out characters back then. Not so much now.
