See, for me, I don't want Trek to be too hard left. I want it to be something that speaks more to universal values, that gives it a more timeless feel. Ira Steven Behr was quite right when he said that, though using the word "conservative" was wrong, imo.
I haven’t seen the TOR reviews so I don’t even know the point you’re making. I’m just saying Berman Trek was way behind the times in LGBT representation, which is a fact.

And I'm not denying that, am I? But I also tend to think Dax is superior to a gay couple, which is nothing new.

Yukaphile wrote: Thu Apr 11, 2019 5:13 pm How can you not see this is very much a trans allegory? Jadzia is technically both a man and a woman in a woman's body.
Dax was never stated to have a gender, and had both male and female hosts. So the writing just wasn't there for that.

Tbf, and to play devil's advocate, a man can have a husband and wife too, and so can a woman nowadays. At least, one after the other. :P

Had Jadzia been shown to be bi I think that interpretation would hold up

I think she would have been if Berman's homophobia hadn't gotten in the way. Ezri was, and she was a Trill. There's no reason to think Jadzia wouldn't. Though given Berman's views, that's clearly a "psycho lesbian" thing going on versus the "good girls hook up with guys" message.

I don't think it really matters what the host body is. Dax is an enchilada put into someone's spleen.

Hypothetical.
