Jack Ryan paid them to loosen up Jeri to swap partners in sex clubs down the line but it did not work and we ended up with Obama as president.

A note about the miniskirts - they were symbols of female empowerment in the 1960s. They made more sense then it seems now in our sex negative culture.
If anything it's the reboot that makes f all sense.
Do you have anymore information about the miniskirt situation? Because they always seemed weird to me considering that the uniforms in the first episode seemed a lot more plausible in terms of military practicality.

I heard that it was Nichelle Nichols' idea to have the women wear mini skirts. She also insisted on wearing skirts in the movies as well. Notice she wasn't part of the show yet in the first episode.

By first episode I meant "Where No Man Has Gone Before". It wasn't the first aired episode, but it was the first one produced (with Kirk's crew).

The tailored hero uniforms cost about $3000 each. In 1990s dollars. And only used once? Seems like a pretty big waste.

The back pocket where you keep your wallet would also happen to be on your lower half, right?

But I'd want the casual eye to not really notice, then they bring it up maybe a season or two later when like probably half the people watching would have noticed or something like that

Looks like Rich had the same idea!
