The Thirteenth Doctor
Re: The Thirteenth Doctor
So Newsnight on BBC did a compilation of all the doctors and included even some non-canon doctor in them, and they left with a still where they had the number 15? over a still of someone looking into the sky at night. Now a google search shows this as a still from the Fox Show Lucifer where Tom Ellis stars. Why would they use that clip unless Tom Ellis was going to be the next doctor? Or are the creators of the clip trying to throw a red herring our way?

@TheNewTeddy, I really like your idea.
I've been horrified by suggestions of Richard Ayoade (who I can't stand), Eddie Redmayne (whose Newt Scamander was very remiscent of Matt Smith), Tilda Swinton and even Matt Smith!! Not meaning to bash the 11th Doctor, but I would like some variety in my performances.
More importantly than the actor, I'm just looking forward to the show regenerating itself. I've liked Steven Moffat and his work on Doctor Who, and would say that it's probably stronger overall than RTD's. Davies did the hard bit though, and returned the show to the air, so I try not to judge him too harshly. But in the words of Sarah-Jane Smith "everything ends". It's time for the mantle to be passed, and I am ready.

I follow Sylvester McCoy on twitter. He tweeted a picture that contained Robert Picardo.
Now there's an idea.
Robert Picardo as The Doctor.

Capaldi was the only reason I've stuck with the show this long. It sure wasn't for the writing. Kill the Moon almost made me rage quit the show entirely. I'll probably give the new Doctor (whoever he/she is) a chance, but unless the quality of stories improves the next Doctor might as well be an undertaker.

Yeah, I'd like a female Doctor, if their's a writing staff and management in place that will actually handle it intelligently rather than reducing it to fan service or dumb jokes or something.Arkle wrote:Dream casting: Kate Winslet
More realistic possibility: Hayley Atwell
Though personally my first vote goes to Michelle Dockery.
Dream casting, though: Honestly, if I could have any actor in the world as the Doctor, it'd be Colin Firth. Opposite Gary Oldman as the Master.
I certainly wouldn't mind finally giving Anthony Head a shot either, though I think he'd be the oldest Doctor at this point.
Re: The Thirteenth Doctor
This probably going to sound fanboyish but if we have to have a female doctor, I'd rather they wait a few years, maybe 1 or 2 regenerations, and cast Jenna Coleman in the role. Imho she's been the best companion of the modern era (though it's a close run thing with Catherine TitTate), she seems to 'get' the show better than most of the other actresses, and it'd be interesting to see if she could recrate the doctor-companion chemistry- which she had so well with Capaldi- with her on the 'other side'.

I suspect Redmayne and Swinton are too big for Who. They tend to cast lesser-known actors as the Doctor, and casting a big name would strain the budget.Paul Walker wrote:@TheNewTeddy, I really like your idea.

Smith again would be a profound insult to the series and everything that makes it work. Change is a fundamental part of this series, and its part of why its lasted so long. Bringing back Smith, or any other prior Doctor, full-time would basically be declaring: "We are creatively bankrupt and our sole priority is pandering to the whiniest segment of the fan base."

I had a new thought here, but am I off base? Timothy Dalton as the new Doctor. He may be more dramatic, but with the new show runner, they could take it in a new direction. I thought his work in Penny Dreadful was top notch and he may have to chopps to be a little whimsical like most doctors.

He was just Rasilon. I can't imagine using such a famous actor after he just played such a featured character.lsgreg wrote:I had a new thought here, but am I off base? Re: The Thirteenth Doctor
Now that you mention Penny Dreadful, how's Eva Green's schedule looking?
Just imagine Missy's reaction. "Always have to one-up me, don't you?"
