I'll take more massive spacebattles like that please - also I just like anything that includes ramming frigates Ala Homeword Catacylsm.

Anyone else remember those things?
I am the one who requested Chuck review Kannazuki No Miko. (under an old alias)

I count it among the most despicable things I have ever done to another human being and I'm sorry.

Things I have requested that are not evil:
* Anna's Quest
* Contradiction
* TECHNOBABYLON

Homeworld Cataclysm was the sorta non-canon expansion about the miners that came across an assimilation plague. Ahh nostalgia.
Speaking of which, Relicnews forums which was my old stomping since 2004 closed down the other day. A moment to remember those lost.

Bonus points for Rogue One including an Old Republic derived ship.

homeworld cataclysm was better than hw 2 :P

The shields were down at the time of the deathstar firing.

Further having a variable output power on the generator is necessary in this instance of a fleet action. the death star and the imperial fleet were to close to the planet and would of been hit by the debris of a full planet killing blast.

While I felt that the movie improved as it went along, my final verdict is no better than "fine."

One thing that bugged me was the scene where Jyn trying to rake Cassian over the coals after they leave the planet where her father is (aka rainy stalagmite/hoodoo planet) for his performance of morally dubious actions in service of the rebel cause. I couldn't help but be reminded of the conversation between Dr. Bashir and Admiral Ross at the end of "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" with Jyn in the role of Julian and Cassian as Ross. Unfortunately, the conversation in Rogue One pales in comparison. Then when she says "You can't just talk your way out of this," and they stop talking... I think he just did. :lol:

I liked it for what it was.
While I think it had problems, as an avid reader of the Former Expanded Universe of Books and Comics I fully acknowledge that a full bell curve of quality can exist in a body of work as expansive as Star Wars and I love the opportunity to see this carried out in Film!
Will every film be Empire Strikes Back?
No, probably not
BUT
While Some DOOZIES of badness might (and probably WILL) be made I believe that more creating isn't a bad thing and will just as likely result in just as many doozies of Greatness

And even HELLABAD movies have their Value, the Red Letter Media Plinket Reviews of Episodes 1-3 are some of my favorite watching!

Bring Sajuuk to bear!

Wookieepedia says that the Death Star had lots of small clustered shield generators like colonies but no overall shield protection.
So while some sections were protected the majority was not. Though the Death Star did have a giant "magnetic field" which kept in atmosphere around the battle station.

So I guess the sound in space for the battle of Yavin turned out to be entirely justified :)

I thought it was the movie version of a standard Old-EU style story. Not one of the greats, but a fun ride. I probably won't watch anything but the last twenty minutes ever again though, I couldn't tell you any of the character's names.

Vader inviting the main villain to his fortress just to make a "choke" pun was hilarious, though.

I was wondering why the hell the rebels had a three thousand year old ship class in their fleet, though. I heard it's explained in the cartoon but I haven't watched it yet.

To be fair, even most Star Wars Nerds would miss that

Really? The Old Republic series isn't exactly obscure.
