I just saw Eternals today. I thought it was dull to be perfectly honest. Characterization was poor, the Deviants might as well not been used at all for all the characterization they got, there were some interesting ideas but the movie did nothing with them.

Do you think it was a moneygrab, or just an unsuccessful attempt at entertainment?

Let me rephrase that:

Do you believe they were trying to make a quality cinematic experience, and failed? Or, do you believe they were merely trying to acquire as much money as possible and didn't care about reaching for quality?

The answer depends on who "they" are. If "they" are the executives, then the answer is the executives only care about quality in so far as it contributes to profit. If "they" are the creatives (i.e. writers, actors, directors), then it's probably a quality cinematic experience.

Generally there's executives, producers, and artists. Producers almost blur the line given that their job describes more so a craft of operation and development, while artists are strictly for performance or dictation.

I'm not difficult, I am simply giving a direct answer to a question posed. There's no monolithic product in the entertainment industry, there's always at least two parties at work, as was pointed out: The managers and the crafters. I have no doubts that the crafters do their best and have passion for the technological and artistic performance of their project, while the managers have the passion to make the product in such a way that they get stinking rich. There's no dichotomy at work like Frustration postulates, it's just conflicting interests at work and both interests are very valid and without either, there wouldn't be an entertainment product.
