Yeah it was kind of sudden. I kinda felt like a LotR scale battle would be fitting by the time everyone arrived, but it was a bit more keynote. All the battles were more distinct and like one on one/several iirc.jadenova wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 5:12 pm My reaction to the massive brawl.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
It was OK.
The grimderp future wasn't terribly fun, but the time-travel bits that were basically endless self-reference rocked.
Very upset about the Soul stone death (you know the one). Felt like a cheap cop-out instead of doing the work to use her character more effectively.
Action was up to the usual standard. Some very entertaining/creative fights.
Captain Marvel continues to be a bore. Okoye was more fun and enjoyable. Karen Gillian was surprisingly one of the highlights of the movie for me; between this and the Guardians movies, I'm starting to think that her boring character on Doctor Who was Moffat's fault and not hers.
Not super thrilled with Cap's ending, he shouldn't get to just get the perfect life and all, it kind of cheapens his sacrifice and his nature as a character. He should be able to forge a good ending for himself, a bittersweet but still positive kind of thing in what to him is this strange future.
I called Iron Man biting it from a mile away, Downey was asking too much $.
I think that paying too much attention to the metaplot implications of this movie will be a strategically poor move if Disney goes ahead with it in future movies.
After this, I'm only watching for Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Guardians. I don't give a shit about Movie!Carol and the only way I will is if they bring in Kamala or somehow re-work Carol to be less like Mar-Vell and more interesting. I don't really know or care much about Shang-Chi but if they go full wuxia that could be cool. Especially if Shang-Chi beats the crap out of Iron Fist, that would be fucking hilarious after slogging through Iron Fist.
I have no idea how they'll do an Eternals movie but I'm not all that hyped.
I don't want to say that "this is the end of Marvel/Disney" or whatever, but it should be noted that they ARE starting to run out of properties that interest me, personally, and if I'm at all representative of larger trends, they will hit burnout sometime in the late 2020s in all likelihood (assume Black Panther 2 in 2021 or so, Black Panther 3 in 2024, then all the actors want to do something else already, Ryan Coogler is getting tapped for Creed 4 or something, yadda yadda yadda), and then I think the project will slowly wither in terms of sales even if it maintains the quality.
Really worried that the inability to make Captain Marvel interesting and the weird attempt to aggressively court aging white women while ignoring literally every branch of the audience but milquetoast moderate gender-nationalist second-wave-feminist upper-class middle-aged to elderly white women will sabotage that property going forwards. I mean, for a "feminist" movie, it doesn't actually have a feminist point other than "this woman has the heroic trait of getting back up after she's knocked down", which is...kind of a heroic trait that any female protagonist has, up to and including Wonder Woman, who was spiritually knocked down multiple times throughout her movie and got right back up to punch a weedy Brit in magic armor in the face as her white-guy-called-Steve-played-by-a-white-guy-called-Chris boyfriend reenacted Captain America. And Carol has considerably less dialogue IN HER OWN MOVIE than T'Challa or Thor or Steve or Tony do in theirs--she's just told exposition for most of it, does some CGI fighting, and that's IT.
Very frustrated by Movie!Carol.
Overall, 7/10. Not perfect, had some serious flaws I was upset by, but I liked it overall.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Apparently Brie Larson filmed this movie before Captain Marvel...and, to be honest, it kind of shows. She is barely in it, except as a serial Deus Ex Machina.
Anyway, if you don't like Carol Danvers in these movies just remember- Marvel has the X-Men now.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
As I say, I think many will go away from this film with the thought that THEIR Avengers is over and done with. How they go from here is up in the air. I'm not interested at all in watching Ironboy or Ironlady (the two possibilities they seemed to be touting), no offence to the Falcon but I am not really interested in seeing him as Cap, I didn't really like the new Hulk short of a few jokes here and there, and Captain Marvel is a board of wood without any of Wonder Woman's charm. And I may be imagining this but I swear I saw a set up for Lady Thor there too.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 7:01 pm It was OK.

As has also been said though: the X-Men and Fantastic Four are back and Hugh Jackman has said that he would love to reprise his role for the MCU. Old Man Logan back again anyone? In fact, he would be a great way to bring mutants into the MCU universe if he is involved in some inter-dimensional timey-wimey stuff that brings the mutants over from the Fox universe before they went extinct.
We may also be in line for Dr Doom, Phoenix and Galactus done right.

Season 2 was maybe better than both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage seasons 2.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I would love to see a Fantastic 4/ Dr. Doom / Galactus movie, especially if that was built up to like Marvel has shown they can.

That's like saying Stalin was better than Hitler. Iron Fist season 1 was like doing surgery on my own feet without anesthetic. Re: Avengers: Endgame
Iron Fist in compination with Defenders basically killed my interest n the Marvel Netflix series overall. I mean it certainly doesn't help that Defenders was basically written with the assumption that you really liked Iron Fist. It certainly doesn't help that Cox, Ritter, and Colter basically crush Jones in every scene they share.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 3:36 amThat's like saying Stalin was better than Hitler.
