I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you wanting evidence that nerd culture included sexism against female gamers and there was hostility/disbelief?
It seems increasingly likely that nerds never were social outcasts for their interests. It seems more for social anxiety combined with some toxic behaviors.
I'm asking for evidence that nerd's lack of social acceptance was largely caused by both social anxiety and toxic behavior.

Because billions of people play video games and love "nerd" culture? Therefore it's mind-numbingly stupid to blame their interests for it?
FYI - not accusing you of making that argument. I'm not sure what your argument is for why nerds were outcasts.

Since you gave what you thought was the "real" reason for nerds being social outcasts, I was asking for evidence for that being the real reason.

Yep and I just said it. Because it wasn't their interests.
@Darth Wedgius Pinning down an incel is tricky, and thus people may get falsely labeled as such. With that said, that is what an incel is, by definition.

An incel is just someone who can't get laid and is unhappy about it, and misogyny may not be a factor.

Do you disagree?
I was asking for evidence that "toxic behaviors" were the "real" reason.
No, an incel is exactly a man who is celibate "not by choice" but cannot attract women because of their own misogyny. That is the definition of them online and why people hate them so much.
