To be fair, a huge chunk of the fandom seems to assume T'Pring is just in her normal state and not suffering "murderous sex monster" Pon Farr like Spock.

I got nothing to say here.

I get the distinct impression that this is a manifestation of the modern interpretation of feminism where women are supposed to have full agency and are never villains.

Of course you do. What else would I expect from Mr. "Black doctors in television are unrealistic because there aren't enough smart black people for the job"?

Thinking about it a bit more now if they are going to do every season's big comedy episode with something happening to Spock that kind of sucks. I mean yeah he has be built up for over 50 years with story and lore, but we have a cast of really unexplored people we can focus more on.

Re: Star Trek Strange New Worlds (Season 2)
Kind of an oddball this episode. It's not entirely bad, but, it's just... what was it trying to achieve with Spock's dinner thing? Was it some "meet the (racist) parents" joke I didn't get? Cause him beating the challenges while being human wasn't that impressive, save for the last part with the mind meld, but that one was a cheat. Also, why is the crew reteaching him how to act like a Vulcan? Spock lost his Vulcan DNA, not his memories.
Also also, the actress playing Spock's mom is only 11 years older than Peck, which is weird. Even weirder because she already appeared previously in STD, but given that all the previous actresses that portrayed Amanda were of different ages and looked their age, they can't use the "she's much older than she looks" excuse, since it's clear that this was not meant to be a character trait. I guess they didn't want to recast the actress, for some reason.
As some food for thought, I suppose one way the Romulans managed to flee Vulcan and get as far away as possible from it, is they came across a bunch of abandoned ships from the Hospital aliens that they left around on their planet? I always though they just had sleeper or generation ships, since, given their lifespan, shouldn't be that much of an issue.
I guess the purpose of this episode's story was trying to justify T'Prick's behavior towards Spock later in TOS timeline? I don't really know, I'm more confused after this.

I don't even think 11 years is that bad. After all, people look much better with healthcare now.

And she certainly looked wise upon her age, for she played the human wife of a Vulcan.

'Life, but not as we know it' ... Thinking the writers really wanted to play around with some core story ideas of Trek this season. Felt the subplot was meh on the refinery, but I did like Kirk giving the 'fight death' speech.
I do feel sorry for Sam since his brother just seems to keep coming up in different ways while here he is, on the flagship, still doing a great job.
By the way anyone else feels this era of Trek really wants to throw people out the air lock? Dal had a daydream of it, Mariner caused it to happen to herself in the simulation, the changelings on the Titan...

I thought the past two episodes with Kirk were great. Hopefully they don't start relying on him and other TOS remnants too much, because yeah they gave like 10 minutes of story to Pike and the humanitarian plot.
