You find combating review-bombing and trolling a worthy effort, but think they shouldn't in this case or what?Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 10:29 amOh dear lord, they really try their very best to drop as many bricks as possible. I find combating review-bombing and trolling a worthy effort, but this is almost like they try their damn best to hit as many shots into their own foot as possible.Admiral X wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 10:09 am So apparently the reason for the sudden jump in the user rating on Rotten Tomatoes is because they deleted 50,000 negative reviews.

I find that I don't take their explanation at face value.

I think they have a terrible timing enacting these measures, because this is hardly the first movie that got (potentially) review-bombed and trolled. It raises the questions of A) Why these measures were not taken earlier and why it only is an issue now and B) Why were these changes (apparently) not communicated beforehand, but enacted in a rushed and hushed manner, as if it were somehow important that it gets done right now for some undiscernable reason. It calls the alleged intends into question.

If there's one level where this movie failed on, I think we can all agree that it was with product placement.

Rotten Tomatoes having to deal with outrageous negative comments is nothing new. This goes as far back as THE DARK KNIGHT when users would leave death threats on critics in the comments section, which has since been disabled. I hardly thinking deleting a bunch of misogynistic comments is something worth being upset about.

That's not that much. Avengers Infinity War got more than 100 million more than that.Ordo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 7:48 pm https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?i ... l2018a.htm

Yes, but it's higher than both Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Captain America, and Spiderman.
Re: Captain Marvel: The MCU's First Failure?
Higher than any solo origin opening besides the anomaly of Black Panther, and above many of the movies in general (with only Avengers movies and the third movies for Cap and IM above it). Obviously it's not making Avengers money. Have to see what kind of legs it has.
