Makes more sense than the theory that it's a raceswap Rose Tyler.Frustration wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 10:56 pm Why would we assume that, in-universe, the character is named after Rose Tyler?

Granted, but that hypothesis is crazy talk, pure and simple.
It's more likely that it's a totally unrelated character named Rose.

Re: 14th Doctor Announced
Have you ever noticed how with all of the previous new Doctors we learned who they were going to be only on regeneration day and the first episode of their series? Like, no one knew that Tennant was going to replace Eccleston until he regenerated and no one knew Smith was going to replace Tennant etc. It was a closely guarded secret in the old days. I have a sure memory of the BBC going to war with a tabloid newspaper which tried to leak who Matt Smith was. Same with their companions, Amy Pond was a reveal.
And yet with both Whittaker and Gatwa we get the announcement months in advance. Same with black transwoman Rose Tyler. Herm... its almost as if the BBC knows that this is controversial and is trying to chip away at this kryptonite before the show is released. That or they are trying to absorb the back patting points they hope is coming their way.
It certainly proves that they are being very deliberate and knowing in their casting.

No, because we already knew who were going to play the 11th and 12th Doctors months in advance of regeneration day and those made headline news back in the UK and online, in fact I distinctly remember the fandom going nuts about how upset they were about it, months before their debut regenerations ("How dare they replace Tennant with a nobody?" or "Why is the new Doctor old?").clearspira wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 9:57 am Have you ever noticed how with all of the previous new Doctors we learned who they were going to be only on regeneration day and the first episode of their series? We actually had a cameo by Capaldi in the 50th anniversary for crying out loud.
I also watched some old interviews with classic Who actors after they were announced as the new Doctor but before they made their debuts.

The Timeless Child will not be retconned. That's it. Show dead. Even deader than it already was.

No, I don't listen to youtube vids for or against this doctor I go with the official information the BBC puts out.
Re: 14th Doctor Announced
I'm waiting for actual sources, not speculation from some Youtube channel who cite third party sources.

Exactly. When I had my debate class a few years ago the first thing the teacher taught us: make sure the sources providing the information are official/legit and unbiased.
