Wasn't that Rings of Power?
Yes. House of the Dragon is getting some rather unfortunate praise from the very people who hate Ring of Power, which is a shame because I hate agreeing with them. Even the "hate everything" bloggers are going, "It's surprisingly good and not nearly as woke bullshit as I thought."

Which...yay. :sarcasm:

The one thing I don't like about HotD is the time skipping. It's not really that apparent time has passed between episodes.

But the big thing is the last episode doing a three year time slip give or take so we see Aegon II as a toddler. Yet, we don't really see the progression of the princess herself during that time.

She is a huge huge character for this series. She is the one half of the story.
I got nothing to say here.

Really? Not what I heard. I'm probably wrong. Both seem to be getting some pretty undeservedly negative reviews though.

Mostly, it's Rings of Power.

It's great to see Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen on the show, one of my favorite Doctor Who actors (favorite Modern Who Doctor) appear in something successful and well liked after appearing in a number of derided flops.

Maybe it is review bombing, who knows, I don't. That is definitely a card that corporations like to play when their product isn't doing well though. You never hear them claim that an overwhelming amount of positive reviews is a ''review bomb'' do you?

That's Rings of Power. House of the Dragon is an HBO Max show and that show is getting a lot of positive reception from viewers.

As for "review bombing", if a media is getting an unbelievable amount of 1 star or 10 star reviews, that's actual review bombing. A lot of the media that got 1s or 10s recently are no where close to being those numbers, it's just this stupid culture war brainwashing people to take sides and act like it's an actual war.

It's one thing if the reviews were a bunch of 1-6s for example but it's not. If you get a ton of 1s it's gets suspicious.

I have seen the first two episodes and I will say it is boring and slow and some issues with the characters. I wouldn't give it a 10, but I definitely wouldn't give it a 1.

Giving it a 1 or 2 implies everything across the board about the show sucks. Realistically it isn't that.
I got nothing to say here.

Problem with that is it overlooks how many people treat 1-10 or 1-5 ratings pretty much everywhere. Not just films, anime, or tv shows, but look at other websites that use such systems like shopping, eating, hotels or whatever and you frequently see the same behaviour.

Many people if they see the current score is too low will rate it 10 to push it up, and if they think it's too high well got to bring that down and so will use a 1 as that's what is going to be the most effective.

A 1 is 'I don't like this', a 10 is 'I do like this', and all naunce is often forgotten. Which is appropriate really given the state of the internet as a whole.

MAL the big anime rating site is especially infamous and/or entertaining following the shenanigans of the top 10 there, and the various fanbases involved. That's also not talking about how gaming reviews have warped people's brains into thinking that 9 is great, 8 is good, and 7 or less is worthless dreck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that some silly people are review bombing. However that's easy to determine by looking around at the general nature of the discourse currently going on without needing to look at the number of 1's.

No I get it. It's really hard to tell what someone is thinking when they rate something.

I don't believe the shit ton of 1s happening all at once is because Rings of Power is that bad.
