This question loses some of its spirit because so many ask the same fucking question about all the uniform changes the US military branches have been doing over the past twenty years.

Thank God they retired this one recently:

I hear the major push for it was that a sailor died falling into the ocean and drowned before they could find him because he was so well camouflaged. That then raises the entire question as to why the hell they were wearing sea cammo at sea in the first place (Because the other branches had cammo uniforms, that's why).
I was in the Navy just right after they switched over from the dungarees (heavy duty shirt with a form of jeans) to a more work shirt and work pants (think Dickies or Levi) with similar colors. Then they introduce the so called 'aquaflage' right when I was getting out. They also dropped the two work dress uniforms which were all black and all white to the Reese's uniform of khaki shirts and black pants. That screwed up the whole distinction between the enlisted sailors and the khakis which Chief Petty Officers were part of.

The running joke when the 'aquaflage' were in was that they were that color of camo was because if we fell in the water the Navy would not have to bother to find us because we would be matching the water.

I think a few years after I got out they issued a newer type of the 'aquaflage' that was lighter and breathe better. The originals were heavy.
I got nothing to say here.

Well of course, it's the most militaristic one, and thus the most fitting for their job.

Uniforms are designed a certain way for a reason, and it's not just for practical reasons, it's also to make the wearer feel like a professional badass.

Mine is the original uniform. Older styles had, well, a style. They've become increasingly bland and soulless.
thats the problem i have the discovery and the picard ones just don't feel right to me they don't fit the progression, i don't know its just im guess im wanting the uniforms to stay at least close enough that they aren't changed ALL the time

Picard time frame for uniforms works if you drop the First Contact uniforms. But I felt they looked cheap. Like they were fan made.

Come to think of it, I wonder how someone would update the TOS movie uniforms...
