A Doctor saved them.

Oh, that's just standard-issue time travel fuckery. The real bullshit is when Captain MacFarlane says "Unlike you, we don't mess with the timeline", whilst he is in the process of actively messing with the timeline by not being dead.

Well, that wasn't really his doing though. What was he supposed to do, commit suicide?

No, but a smarter show could've had her point out the incredibly stupid thing he just said, and maybe have him reflect on that.

The larger problem is that he gave that as a reason not to study her future-tech teleporter. But if her future is already fucked, he has absolutely no real reason not to reverse-engineer all of the hells out of that thing.

Instead he just drops into his desk drawer, presumably to be forgotten about until some future episode when he suddenly remember, and use it to save the day.

it's annoying that 60 seconds of exposition (ie, cut out 2 ham-fisted jokes) could've explained away the paradox...

due to technobabble, blowing up the wormhole in Seth's time destabilizes the wormhole at the other end at Charlize's home time. However Charlize isn't wiped away, rather Charlize is jailed to be put on trial for violating Space Law-babble 666.

Have a little coda how Charlize escapes her guards and leave it as an open-ended teaser that Charlize might be a recurring antagonist. With knowledge of a possible future! dun, dun, dun.

But that would require having the budget to be able to afford hiring Charlize Theron again.

Rotten Tomatoes is giving The Orville a critical rating of 20% and an audience rating of 91%. I think that second number is more important. But it is Fox, so...

every week's Orville episode has less viewers than the one prior ( but I don't know how the competition is doing). From the premiere's 8.6 mill. to 3.4 mill. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Orville

don't shoot the messenger.

I have been finding RT lately to be really off for some of their stuff. For example, I really do think that RT should never rate TV shows. They are so off on it.

Captain Mercer: Look, we can't afford Charlize THeron becoming a reccuring character!
This is, quite frankly, the funniest thing I've read today.
