KotOR Movie? Yes or No

Should Disney create a movie adaptation of KotOR?
I would love something like this. To escape the Skywalker timeline and explore the core tenets of Jedi and Sith teachings is just the thing this old franchise needs right about now. We need to return to the cyclical nature of light and dark, and KotOR shows a waning light and a rising dark. The current series is an endless war started by a quick usurpation of power that never shows a waning dark and a rising light, or rather, it is a perpetual light that is stuck at almost rising and a dark that is almost waning but it's stuck there.
Those are my thoughts. What do you guys think?

It is impossible to adapt because of the reveal. Just open up a new era in the movies that might relate to it.

Well the first and biggest problem is that the entire point having stories in the Old Republic era was that it was so far in the past that any contradictions with movie canon could be explained away as having changed over time, so putting a film there would defeat its original purpose. Even in the new canon stuff like the hundred-year darkness gets mentioned offhand arguably putting it in a semi-canon state.
Secondly KotOR itself is essentially a retread of the original trilogy albeit with the Sith in the rebel role, what makes it special is that its a video game with your character as the hero, making film out of it would diminish that.
Thirdly with seemingly constant war with the Sith (there isn't if you look at the dates), by the time SWTOR came out the Jedi were unquestionably depicted as front line soldiers. Whereas in the clone wars there's a running theme that leading armies is an extremely unnatural role for them and ultimately a part of Palpatine's plan, they're supposed to be monastic federal marshals with pirates and crime lords as their usual enemies and the Sith as an extreme exception. This is only touched on in KotOR with the council's refusal to fight the Mandalorians and the original idea of battle meditation was to allow a Jedi to end a conflict quickly without getting directly involved.
While it still has the first problem, they could try to adapt the story arcs from the original Tales of the Jedi comics which are more unique and also have a more unique art style. They could also try exploring some of the ideas that never actually had their own story like the Legions of Lettow or Contispex's Crusades (although that one might just be a 40k easter egg).

The story of Revan's Fall, Rise and Redeem would make good movie stuff, but you are right, it is essentially a retread of the Prequel-triology, except that it'd make sense for Revan to Fall for so many reasons, unlike a certain other sandy vagina.

Hell no. Simply because it just couldn't work. The whole story wouldn't fit into even a trilogy of movies unless you cut out quite a bit. And realistically, they'd have to add stuff to it to make it into a decent movie.
For example, the final space battle at the end would need to be shown quite a bit more than it is in the game. The game can get away with short cut scenes showing the space battle because it's a game. The main focus is on your character. The movie would suffer without seeing that battle. Imagine seeing RoJ with only a brief glimpse of the space battle or the scenes with Endor at the end. Pretty much just Luke, Vader and Palpatine. Wouldn't be nearly as good.

The "go to a bunch of places and collect the same macguffin in each one" structure so beloved of Bioware in the 2000s wouldn't make a particularly good movie, so any reasonable attempt to cover Revan's story on film would have to be basically totally different.

I would definitely say "Yes".
The biggest issue I have with the concept is that anyone can look up the big twist (you are Darth Revan) on the net and that might undercut the hype for the movie.
But then again especially with SW speculation runs rampart on the net so if someone had spent enough time on the net he would read the ideas for TFA and TLJ eventually plus we knew from the start the end-game of the entire Prequel Trilogy.
I would shuffle somethings around, I guess it depends a lot on how many movies Kotor gets.
If they get 1 movie, a lot of things have to be cut, the Revan reveal happens sometime in the middle then the end is redeeming Bastila and defeating Malak.
If they get 3 movies, the reveal can be left to the end of the first movie build a very strong cliffhanger and allowing them to insert a lot of hints that changing someone's mind with the Force is possible. This would leave the second movie to deal with Bastila's fall and Revan dealing with his true nature. The final movie would be ending Malak of course. A trilogy might need some padding so they might put in some more Mandalorian War flashaback to better detail Revan's fall and good guy Malack, also the second Kotor might be usefull for pulling elements from it.
A duo-logy might be the sweet spot but I'm not sure if those are considered viable.
I think a Kotor movie(s) would provoke a lot of discussion because of the same reason as the PT and TLJ showing the Jedi as being far from perfect and it would also be a good opportunity to give some movie level explanations on the Sith.

We already know the end of it.

SW is a big enough brand. Just do a new era, do not remake KOTOR. Or make KOTOR 1 and 2 canon and follow somoeone in the Unknown Regions and you get to meet Revan and the Exile.

I agree with what you're saying vis-a-vis the scale of SW, but imho the fact that KOTOR is only games + some comics + (a very good) RPG setting means that it is still known by a very small amount of people, so I see doing a KOTOR movie not like re-treading old ground but introducing a hell of a lot of people to that period.
If we're talking about other time periods of the old republic that would be interesting there was a series of wars that was basically the crusades in space !!! + jedi and sith, I can't remember the name of the period right now but it was just before Darth Bane entered the scene and created the modern sith.
