I shall begin with the Elite Dangerous: Vulture.



In a universe filled with trade, exploration and mining. The Vulture is a ship that isn't interested in any of that. The Core Dynamics FVU-85 Vulture is a ship made for killing.

Apparently designed after one Engineer challenged another with "I bet you can't build a ship with the agility of a light fighter, the shielding of a medium combat vessel and the guns of a capital ship" to which he replied "Hold my beer." The Vulture is capable of fitting large weapon hardpoints on a frame which still land on the smallest landing pad.



Essentially a cockpit built around heavy shields, engines and massive guns. The Vulture sacrifices the versatility of multiple small hardpoints and speed for two powerful weapons and incredibly agility. The end result is a ship that rewards close range dogfights and skilled pilots able to use that to their advantage.

The lack of space for a powerful enough power plant within the vessel restricts options for upgrades which means your Vulture's reactor will requires a visit from your local angry Scotsman substitute to draw more power out for your space hunting missions. Of course, the lack of interior space, low jump range and fuel storage also extremely limit any trading or exploration. However it's unlikely you would invest in the Vulture's hefty price tag for such a thing.

The interior is much like it's externals. Style only where it does not impact function. Brushed metal paneling giving a clear but and professional look, contrasting to the often utilitarian and minimalist approach of DeLacy or the needless extravagance of Imperial vessels.

A well lit stairway leads the pilot to his chair like a red carpet. As if to say, please place your butt here at your leisure sir. Murder things in space at your own comfort.



The Vulture also offers an additional crew seat in case you need someone to sit behind you and observe how awesome you are. There really is no other tangible benefit to having additional crew on board.



In conclusion, a superlative fighting vessel that outperforms any other ship in its class. A specification that speaks as much of its owners fighting style as its crisp and lethal profile. A top consideration for any aspiring ace fighter pilot or discerning bounty hunter.

I prefer warships that look like something that would exist once early spacetravel and the problem of getting material to build larger spaceships off a world would be eliminated, like B5s Earth Alliance Warships and the base design of all Battlestars.

The only big issue I have with B5s EA warships is that they have way too many weapons, which is a common problem with fictional ships of all kinds.

That and the Omega never got to fire it's full weapons compliment because of the limitations of their rendering software.
The Ships were so massive in file size that they had trouble storing them in the Amiga Video toaster's memory, and had to clip them down. We never see the big cannons, missile launchers or the centrifugal Starfury launchers on the ships in use.

Respect to the Babylon 5's realistic Starship approach though. The Starfury is probably the most realistic design of a Space Combat fighter with it's vectored thrust engines.

The only fictional Starship I know of that NASA asked if they could copy.

The Enterprise concept that uses an Alcubierre drive is an interesting one...

And I already know this one is coming in a review (eventually), but it's my favorite of the SWTOR ship designs to fly. It's like a TIE Interceptor remapped and scaled up into an armored executive transport.

This is a little out of place but he needs some appreciation.
