Speed Racer

Okay I'm going to be honest here, I love the 2008 live action adaptation of Speed Racer. It's absolutely cheesy but much like the Flash Gorden movie Chuck reviewed a few years ago it's damn tasty cheese and done with such sincerity that I can't help but smile every time I watch it. In all honesty I'm actually a big fan of the The Wachowskis Sisters and love most of their work, (yes even The Matrix Sequels and Jupiter Ascending though those are guilty pleasures unlike the Star Wars Prequels where I think they're good but flawed films).
My favorite work they have done is a tie between Bound, V for Vendetta Sense8 and yes Speed Racer. I honestly hope they go on to make more films and or TV series, given my love for Star Wars I would honestly like to see their take on the series like in a TV mini-series along with their fellow Sense8 writer and friend J. Michael Straczynski.
But back to Speed Racer, again what I love about this film is just how sincere it is and how loyal it is the original anime. In many ways I think it even improved on the series. Speed earns his victories instead of Racer X just letting him win, Racer X is a lot more interesting and Tracy is a lot more useful. I even enjoyed a lot of the films jokes like the Paps vs. Ninja fight, my sister and I were laughing so hard we actually didn't hear what was being said in the next scene.
So, yea, love this film Love the Wachowskis Sisters and should Chuck ever review the film I hope he sees what I see in it. A modern day Flash Gorden, cheesy, over the top but utterly sincere in everything it did.
