This should be interesting, so I've started watching Steven Universe recently and I gotta say that I'm really enjoying it. It's got action, adventure, romance and random musical numbers, what's not to like? I'd be interested in seeing Chuck review this show as it's got a lot of great ideas and does a good job exploring them. Though I would like to know what everyone else thinks of this show and it's story.

I envy the journey you have ahead of you. Be prepared for mind-blowing relevations, major feels, and huge, dramatic, well-written-as-fuck character arcs. This Show was sculpted from the blood and jizz of Dionysus and topped with acacia-flower honey.

It is without a doubt a great show, on par with Avatar, Batman: The Animated Series and even Star Trek and like I said, I'm interested in others opinions on the show and would like Chuck to review it.

It's pretty good. Not without some parts that drag or miss the mark they aim for, but overall it's a strong show with a lot more good than bad.
I just wish the artists would learn what "on-model" means.
The backgrounds are gorgeous though!

Yeah. Off-model gets pretty bad, especially in recent seasons, but I can forgive it that because it's so good at so many other things.

It's fine. Some of the revelations later undermine character development. There are definitely bad/slow episodes focused on certain town characters you will have to wade through.

Well, in regards to the Big Revelation in the most resent season I feel that is actually a Great twist that does what a plot twist should do, change the Journey the characters have been on and change how we look at the series at the start in a whole new light.
One of my issues with The Last Jedi is that none of the plot twists change anyone or make us see the first movie in a new light.
Rey's Parents being nobody, Ren killing Snoke, Phasma being alive, Holdo's "Plan" and being revealed to be a good guy all along, None of that changes how we see these characters or the story in anyway.
Rey still has no real idea of what her role in the story is, Ren is still a villain who wants everyone to take him seriously, Finn had already over come his fear of Phasma in Awakens and Holdo is still a idiot, so nothing has been gained and nothing has been lost.
But the big twist in Steven Universe, this does matter and it does change everything and, IMHO, gives way to better character development. It changes their relationship with the villains and their relationships with each other in such a way that makes them more, for lack of a better word, human then before. With Last nothing was really changed the heroes and in the end all that they are has not changed making the plot twists in that movie pointless and doesn't challenge the viewers.
The Big Twist in Steven Universe does and I think it's a brilliant move on Sugar and the other writers.
On a side note I also think Steven Universe does the whole
Reform the Villains trope a lot better.
Finn could have been a farmer who was running from the First Order instead of a Storm Trooper and the plot would not have changed and neither would his character. In contrast Peridot being a former villain who was a enemy of the Crystal Gems who was forced to work with them and came to respect them and later befriend them only works because she was a villain at first. Same with Lapis, we see why she is afraid of the Diamonds so her coming in to help Steven and the others along with her relationship with Peridot works because she is growing as a characters. By contrast,
Finn's free of the First Order and him beating Phasma seemed more like a road bump that was annoyingly easy for him to over come.
Lapis throwing a barn at Blue Diamond was not succumbing to Blue's grief was satisfying because we've seen her struggle with her own depression and fear of the Diamonds and seeing her not giving into either fear or depression is very cathartic. Finn's beating Phasma, twice, doesn't work as well because because the worst she did was told him to take a time out and to put on his helmet.
Sorry so going on like that and I hope I didn't offend but I've been meaning to get that out of my system for a while now.

I think Steven Universe is one of the gems of television these days. The voice acting is great, as are the vast majority of the songs. It feels like a direct repudiation of all of the shows that seem to run on shock deaths, traumatizing characters, relationship angst, and what sometimes seems to border on nihilism in the name of drama.
Although it needs MOAR CONNIE.
