IMO I think they should ditch the shared universe (or only reference in occasionally), bring back the Silver/Bronze Age version of the character, and focus more on superheroing rather than melodrama and blowing s**t up.

Superman done well should be the biggest superhero film we have ever seen. He is more famous than anything Marvel has got, his secondary characters are as famous as he is, and his rogues gallery is second only to Batman.

But those were when it was recognized to be a success. So why not emulate it?

Spiderman is a teenager so it comes of as cute and not hopelessly naive.
