Bumblebee (Transformers) Movie

Post by G-Man »

Does anyone have any thoughts about the 2nd trailer for the new Bumbleebee movie?

My thoughts: I like it for two reasons:

Hailee Steinfeld's characters seems likeable, unlike Shia LaBouef's (I have only seen the first of the Bayformers movies - I boycotted all of them after that one, so I can't vouch for any of the other characters).

I think that the G1 designs for some of the characters indicate a respect for the source material. That's why it's such a good thing, even if the trailer shows every scene that we are actually going to see of them. It's not that G1 is the only good Transformers (I really liked Prime, although I only saw the first season). It's that Bay did not seem to be making a Transformers movie, in the sense that he had any idea of what made people fall in love with the show(s).

Other positives:

Bumbleebee does not urinate on anyone in the trailer.
No indication of stupid sexual jokes.
No indication of exaggerated embarrassing parents.

Yeah that's about my thoughts. Also, from a gender and subversion perspective, it's nice to see a rare example of a gal with a robot/dinosaur/whatever friend. Usually those only team up with adolescent boys.
