How would you fix Star Trek?

Here's my proposal. Don't try to cash in on TOS and TNG nostalgia. Try a reboot. Now, I know this may seem like a JJ Abrams inspired attempt to take the franchise in new directions, but I actually have a radically different take on what they did, that I think could have actually worked. Don't do a half-assed reboot, but instead a completely expansive reboot that doesn't adhere even one iota to the previous continuity. It's not time travel, it's another dimension. Call the main reality we've been following Earth-415 or something, and then create a new, entirely separate Earth to play around in. Maybe even one of the parallel universes we saw in "Parallels." Like the one where the Borg had overrun the Federation. Well, no, maybe it wouldn't work after how badly Voyager nerfed the Borg. But my point is, that could offer up a lot of new storytelling possibilities, without being shackled to a greater canon. Because my worst fear with STG is that they're going to botch the continuity, like they're doing with STD. So, just shove the continuity to the side and create a new Earth for us to play around in. Like, maybe the Federation has Klingons and Romulans are Federation members in this reality, or maybe the Dominion is the way the Federation should have been, and it's them uniting to take on the Borg or something.

What do you guys think?

In that case continue the JJverse. no need for 3 universes.

I agree. JJ already threw out the entire canon and invented his own that doesn't make sense as a "what-if" of the existing timeline, so if you want to just do something new, you can do that as Star Trek (2009) 4. Unless you really mean ditching everything that makes it Star Trek, but if that's true, why use the name?

I also agree, though, that I don't think they have a care to make a consistent world-building franchise right now, which is both hilarious and frustrating. It worries me, because with each deliberate watering down of the franchise's stability, it becomes easier for them to justify the next. It's precisely the opposite of the kind of strategy for they should be using for the lightning they want to catch in that bottle.

Personally I don't care for this idea. I want to watch Star Trek. Not just give up and say "I guess that's dead, go ahead and desecrate it". Not that I have a choice in the matter, but if I did, this wouldn't be my solution.

It's not fucking hard to stay consistent when you are in space not Earth and can jump hundreds of years ahead.

I would think so, but clearly this is the absolute hardest thing in the universe, because they keep making prequels instead. Boneheads, the lot o' them.

It's space, just put them into x corner of the galaxy. The fate of the whole Federation does have to be at stake for people to care if it's good.

Yup. I'm sick of "Earth is being threatened!" plots, too.

Post-9/11, a lot of stories have had a completely bonkers sense of scope and consequences.

Not boneheads. Just old, looking for what was good before, instead of what good could be up ahead.

They're heading back to the TNG era, Deledrius. Did you know that? And I have no faith it's going to turn out well. At all. 2399? Meh. Not excited at all.

Save the destruction of the enterprise d for first contact to show how far picard's obsession had gone

have both the daxes meet (ex maybe ezri is on the station and jadzia dies saving her makes the whole symbiont transfer have more of an impact)
