Not the Green Lantern Corps from any other incarnation except the comic books - during the time of the War of Light or thereabouts, and Mogo is allowed. Similar to my "The Borg vs. The Culture" thread, this will feature the two uses of the Borg - prior to First Contact, when they were still in their badass TNG days, and following First Contact and how they were presented in Voyager and Enterprise, even with their severe case of badass decay.

Re: The Borg vs. Green Lantern Corps
Here's my question. If a green lantern gets assimilated, can they still use their ring? That seems like an important factor.

I say the Green Lantern Corps wins. I just feel like they are more powerful than the Borg.
Re: The Borg vs. Green Lantern Corps
I don't know. The Green Lantern Corps have resisted against the Manhunters and Darkseid forces. I suppose they could resist the Borg and even win over them.
To be honest, comic book logic commands that a superhero will win against any foe. So, Borg, Dominion, Galactic Empire, Sith, Goa'uld, Replicants, you name it, they are all doomed to fail. Superman would have destroyed the Death Star by punching through it and escape unscathed...

Re: The Borg vs. Green Lantern Corps
Prior to FC the Borg didn't have their nanotech assimilation abilities so in some respects the later Borg actually WERE more badass; it's more that the earlier Borg had a mystery and intimidation aura about them. But they didn't assimilate the way the later ones did and other than their shields I'd actually say that the later Borg are underestimated.
It doesn't really matter though, since either way the Green Lantern Corps destroy the Borg. Their rings are superior to almost anything the Borg can throw at them and individual Corps members have a wide range of abilities to bring to the table.
And no, the Borg shouldn't be able to use a GL ring, since the rings depend on willpower which the Borg are actively trying to suppress; assimilating a Lantern might be tricky considering the ring generates a force field that would actively resist it, and provides healing powers that might destroy any Borg nanomachines that got through regardless, but the additional issue is that since every single Lantern is hired precisely because they have superior willpower, it's possible that a captured Lantern might overwhelm the Borg through sheer strength of will.
Green Lantern rings are incredibly overpowered if used properly, so they are bringing a level of firepower that the Borg can't compete with. Lanterns can survive black holes, blow up planets, alter replicate different energies, time travel, dimension hop, phase through matter, open wormholes, grants super-strength...really, it's just a question of what strategies the Corps is going to be using and whether or not they are going all-out to destroy the Borg in this scenario or would aim for trying to rescue it's members by de-assimilating them, which would be harder but more in-character.

Re: The Borg vs. Green Lantern Corps
I absolutely agree. The earlier Borg were a technological advanced species on the lookout for more advanced technologies they did not yet posess and they had little to no regard to biology. They are threatening because they are not inherently malevolent, but still a juggernaut that rolls over you, just because it felt like without any regard for your well-being.Jonathan101 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 10:07 am Prior to FC the Borg didn't have their nanotech assimilation abilities so in some respects the later Borg actually WERE more badass; it's more that the earlier Borg had a mystery and intimidation aura about them. The First Contact Borg are an antithesis to the Federation. They are out to make you one of their own and in essence, even though they are still after your technology, they are now also out after you personally. The previous Borg you could technically appease by giving them a datapad with blueprints and scientific writings. The First Contact Borg are not going to stop until you are one of them and they have the means, whether you want to or not.

Re: The Borg vs. Green Lantern Corps
Lantern rings are essentially technology so the borg would want to assimilate them. If in DC universe then the borg would also attract yellow rings because of the fear the borg generate. But it would belong to a cube not a drone. Creativity is limited so the Borg would probably have just a yellow shield. But since lantern rings at full charge can blast planets. We have to say they can overwhelm standard borg shields with ease. So only yellow cubes would be able to really deal with the lantern corps.

If it's on land Lanterns can just punch the ground from under them and bury the Borg.Nealithi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:51 pm Lantern rings are essentially technology so the borg would want to assimilate them. Would that really stop the drones or just slow them however?Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 10:46 pmIf it's on land Lanterns can just punch the ground from under them and bury the Borg.Nealithi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:51 pm Lantern rings are essentially technology so the borg would want to assimilate them.
