Excluding SF Debris, of course, given we'd all agree he is competent enough, and me, given this is my thread. Who do you think would be the most qualified and competent to write for Trek today? Here's my thoughts.
1) clearspira
2) technobabbler
3) Worffan101
4) Nealithi
5) Fianna

--Chuck.
--Chuck.

--Chuck.
--Linkara.
Linkara has proven experience writing goofy sci-fi, but I'm not familiar with any typically Trek work he's done; he also has a lot of experience identifying BAD writing and good visual sensibilities.
Chuck is just straight-up the connoisseur of shitty Trek, and will avoid those pitfalls.

Now, now. I said NOT to list Chuck, or we'd ALL do it. Also, repeating his name? That's cheating.

Kinda curious what you'd think of my writing then. Admittedly, it's been a while since I've worked on it, and I'd like to go back and make some revisions whenever I get back to it, but if anyone happens to be curious.

I'm way too busy with Doctor Who and B5 to check out fanfics, though... just skimming through it? It looks promising. I figure you'd probably be a good writer. Want a sample of my work? Just message me. It's from a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover I was working on eight years ago, never finished Chapter 1, but I was heavily inspired by Legends books.

I am honoured to have made your list.
But Chuck would really have to have a position. Say, editor? Because Many of my thoughts come from him putting into words the discomfort I have with some characters. IE Janeway.
So Chuck as bullpen editor.
Evil Overlord list as the story bible addendum.
And can we cast Tom Hiddleston? I am not sure if I want him as the XO or the snarky recurring villain though.

thank you for the compliment. Very undeserved. I just throw ideas at the wall and see what sticks.
All the credit goes to Chuck and Plinkett at RedletterMedia who made me think actively about what I see on-screen and not be a passive consumer of fiction.
One of the downsides to being exposed to TOS or Star Wars when you're 10. You just take things for as they are and don't think about whether the actions of the characters make sense in-universe.
