Particularly traumatizing thought...

That Picard might refer to the events of STD, anything that takes place in them, or have things that happened there, occur in his new series... OMG, I think a piece of my soul just died a little...

Saru is awesome. I am fine with time travel team up or even Saru showing up in Galaxy.

Without details referenced STD references can be okay.

I look at it kind of like comic books and the various runs they've had. A lot of this is coming from the split of the rights between CBS and Paramount. In a way, this is a blessing in disguise, because it's a lot easier to just call both the Abrams Trek stuff done by Paramount, and anything new done by CBS are their own separate universes.

Yeah but then Tarantino's Trek is gonna throw a monkey into that wrench.

It's also it's own thing.

Patrick Stewart is 79/80 years old. He's an actual knight. No way he's going to slog it out and spend 14 hours a day for multiple days on set for one episode like during the TNG days.

My random guess is that it'll be a character piece---like "Tuesdays with Morrie" and/or like some of the very sparse, low budget episodes from the season 5 of Babylon 5. More like a stage play. Especially since my bet is that the budget will be barebones given the STDisco flop.

Old Man Piccard looks back on his career/life while monologueing with a pretty 30-something lady over wine at the Chateau Piccard.

What I think the Piccard series should be.....retcon-resurrect Rene Piccard. Rene's death was meaninglessly cruel and mostly pointless in Generations.

Have the series be Rene getting advice/swapping stories from Jean-Luc in person and via letters/time-delayed Facetime. Rene is a good but not outstanding officer, struggling to live up to the Piccard name.

Unbeknowst to both of them, a Starfleet admiral pulled some strings to get Rene into the Academy as his Jean-Luc literally saved the life of that admiral's daughter.

maybe cutting away to a Jean-Luc arc on Earth and a Rene arc in space as the series progresses.

For me, knowing that it's very likely Kurtzman is building this show in a way that will recognize 2009's "burn the old place down as we leave to go start our own party elsewhere" F@#!-You that was destroying Romulus off-screen, using nonsensical anti-science, as part of another (probably more interesting) story, which killed the Reunification storyline in the universe JJ Abrams-and-team were leaving behind... that just makes me angry.

It's bad enough that they wanted to wreck the toys they didn't even care to play with, but now he's coming back to it and will want to make sure it's permanent... :x

Galaxy will have a budget or we won't see an episode.
