Khan series in the works?
Oh no... there's a Khan series in the works... rumored to be headed by Nicholas Meyer himself... Jesus Christ, why can't these corporate assholes leave Star Trek ALONE?! They're expanding it, and they're gonna kill the franchise doing so! To quote SF Debris, "And yet it's still coming! It won't stop! How do you kill a Star Trek that's already dead?!"

Have a source? Meyer worked on something back in '17 but that never saw the light of day. Has it been rekindled or are you looking at an old article?

Yeah, a 3 month old article where he states (as per his Midnight's Edge interview) that they commissioned him in Summer of '17 and nothing further had been done since.

I'd actually give something Nick Meyer was in charge of a chance. I mean, he only made like the best two Star Trek films ever made, one of which basically every movie since First Contact has tried to echo or just rip off in some way.

I want to "clean house" before something like that happened. Cancel STD, and bury it to such an extent all episodes will NEVER be found again. Then start a new series, one that hopefully learns from its mistakes, where the writers do their fucking jobs and maybe browse through Memory Alpha to get a grasp of the lore and setting, and only once it's become a success, start exploring new spin-offs.

They may not actually be able to thanks to the current split in rights.

I don't disagree, but I'm also tired of retreads of those particular films (due to their popularity, they keep trying), and honestly while it worked okay in those individual films I'd be concerned with letting the person responsible for amping up the militarism have more control over a full show.

^ We are the generation of nostalgia, and they keep ruthlessly trying to plunder that bin of nostalgia rather than tell their own stories.
