Is Green Lantern Corps any good?

Hell, is the 2011 Green Lantern movie any good? Now, I never saw it, but I'm a huge Green Lantern fan, and I am wondering if I should go check out the new film, if they've learned their mistakes from 2011, because I know that film was poorly received. Hell, by that token, does anyone know where I can download the Green Lantern animated series? I really wanna check that out.

GL 2011 depends how you approach it, I think. You say you're a big Green Lantern fan, and based on this whole Disco thing I get the impression you take fandom pretty seriously... a friend of mine loves Green Lantern and hated the film, so call that a cautionary tale.
Me, I like Green Lantern (the comic/characters), but I'm not wedded to it. The film's mediocre, but insofar as a not-very-good Green Lantern didn't upset me on a personal level, I was entertained enough not to regret watching it. The cast is good - Ryan Reynolds as Hal and Mark Strong as Sinestro stand out in the scenes they share - but the script's a classic mess of the studio not trusting the source: like any number of half-baked 2000s comic book films, it feels a lot like the suits went in with the assumption that a comic book couldn't possibly be good as it was, and changed a bunch of things based on their assessment of what was more marketable to filmgoers. Since it's remarkably apt, consider reimagining Galactus as a giant cloud for what I'm talking about. On top of that they wanted to kick off a DCEU, so it has the Iron Man 2 problem of too many franchise goals getting in the way of the film having a strong story in its own runtime.
TLDR it's about as good as the first Fantastic Four movie (the one with Ioan Gruffudd and Captain America, not that 90s one). If you love Green Lantern and would be genuinely annoyed by watching it being fumbled, I don't know that there's any compelling reason to see it.
