Seriously, what in the hell is this? Is it a Setting Update? A sequel?

It's a distaff sequel. The director says that it takes place in the world where Watchmen happened, and will touch on many of the same themes and reference events and characters, but it's not a direct sequel to Moore's original.
Frankly, I'm excited about it. Looks great so far.

Could be worse, but do we really need another gritty reboot of a classic children's show?

I personally can't get enough of this. Titans was arguably trying a bit hard with it, but I still get a kick out of graphic violence, profanity, and sex in otherwise adolescent entertainment.
