Robert Pattinson is Batman

Post by clearspira »

I don't know how confirmed this is, maybe it is some great joke, but that is who a lot of outlets are claiming has replaced Ben Affleck.
What the Hell...

I will be fair on one point though: a few years have passed since Twilight. Maybe he has improved. And Heath Ledger wasn't all that Joker in his early career either.

Batman castings tend to be controversial. Back in day people doubted Michael Keaton and they also did doubt Ben Affleck. Even Heath Ledger as Joker wasn't popular choice until he proved himself and he become fan favorite.

Pattinson is actually a pretty good actor. Don't make the mistake to only see him as that sparkly vampire dude. He should be a nice Bruce Wayne public face, but I have my doubts that he can bring the physicality to the table, that the Batman needs.

I still don't buy Keaton as Bruce Wayne. Batman, sure, but not Bruce. Bale's Bruce all the way!

I am in opposite. Personally I don't buy Christian Bale as either Bruce Wayne or Batman while Micheal Keaton's take is my favorite as far as live action versions of Batman goes. IMO his Bruce Wayne is so much more nuanced than Bale's because he is able to show emotion without having to say anything or act over the top. And it also helps that his version is allowed to do detective work as he should instead of having everything told to him by Alfred. After all Batman is supposed to be world's greatest detective.

I'm fine with Pattinson, but I heard that the movie is going to have Penguin and Catwoman as rogues. Not too excited to hear that at this point in time.

Who's Robert Pattinson...? *google* EDWARD CULLEN IS THE BATMAN?!

I... am actually fine with this, honestly. I know most folks will cite Twilight as a reason for concern, but those films are like the Prequels and Ghostbusters 2016: it wasn't the actor's who crippled them, it was the writing and direction. If anything, those actors were good in most films OTHER than those.

I'm going to want to see a trailer first, but I'm not scared... yet. Let's see if they actually let Bats be a detective, this time.

I think as far as what you're saying, it's just a matter of what Bruce Wayne you're getting. Keaton has an existential dilemma going on to the point where it feels like he doesn't really know why he's doing it himself. I like it because it juxtaposes Batman's competence nicely. Bale's Wayne always has his hands in things and it does a good job of showing you his genius. His emotional side creeps up as something his hands can't really grasp for that matter, so you're given a different shade from Keaton.

Michael Keaton was too underwhelming, and... didn't have the voice, or the hair. Great actor, just not Bruce Wayne. He makes one hella awesome Batman, though.

I don't think there's anything that specific as to what Bruce Wayne is supposed to look or sound like. Feels like before more recently that was the point of him as a boring dismissable face for Batman.
