The whole Korriban/Moraband debacle

Is anyone else cheesed off that in Disney canon, it became Moraband? And this idea, I've heard, came from Lucas himself. It always amuses me when people want to cite him as being the savior who can help rescue these new movies from the clutches of the "evil" Disney moneymakers, but then forget that the prequels ever happened. Did the Internet just have a collective aneurysm? When people say Lucas never gave a shit about Legends, you begin to see how true that is. The hard-working fans who made it the success it was were the real force behind Legends, and Lucas helped Disney and the other corporate shills to toss it to the side as if it never mattered. They should boot Lucas off the creative team and fire Kathleen Kennedy. Maybe then things would improve.

I don't know what you're talking about. Could you explain what these names are referring to?

Korriban, the Sith homeworld in Legends, was renamed Moraband in Disney canon, and Lucas was the one who wanted it.

Oh, guess I never read that much to know that. All I've read so far is the Thrawn trilogy and the Hand of Thrawn duology.

Korriban being the ancestral homeworld of the Sith is as synonymous to their history as, say, the Romulan homeworld being Romulus is. It'd be like renaming Vulcan "Torkan" or something. You see how stupid that is? Shit, not even Trek has sunk THAT far, despite it being nowhere near as good as it used to be. It really illustrates how little of a shit Lucas gives to Legends, or the fans, really.

I kind of feel that way about the Clone Wars hinted at in the Thrawn Trilogy compared to what we got, honestly.

If memory serves they responded to fan outcry over this by saying that Moraband and Korriban are the same planet, and it was just renamed Moraband later on.

More or a face-saving measure sure, but at least it's easy to reconcile.

Any fictional verse you love? One with a planet or nation or city who is integral to its lore? Imagine they renamed it something stupid after a cash-grabbing reboot? How would you feel?
