If ID4 were to come to television?

Post by Yukaphile »

Okay, this is an idea's been floating around my head for a while, but given what Roland Emmerich said, that the Independence Day franchise may come to TV, my thoughts have now turned to... if so, who should produce it, write it, all that good stuff? Do you guys have any thoughts? Who are some of the giants of sci-fi you think could do a good job with ID4? Especially given how bad the second movie was?

I liked how Iron Fist season 2 worked with outlandish concepts.

Not really sure. The first season was done by Scott Buck, and pretty much everybody hated that and the other show he did Inhumans. I'm not sure if he returned for Season 2, but it was better for anybody that was concerned enough to watch it.

What they did in Season 2 with the Iron Fist was more interesting though. Also their use of dissociative personality disorder was done alright. Not sure how sensible it was with that though. Like that Split movie didn't come off as sensible to a lot of people.

I would love to see ID4 TV series from either JMS or Joss Whedon but I am not so sure if either of them do TV anymore. JMS has been more comic book writer and Joss Whedon has been focusing on big budget Hollywood movies. So really I am basing wanting to see either of them tackle ID4 for TV based on fact that both of them made some of my all time favorite TV series.

It'd be interesting to see Joss Whedon get into the 13 episode arc format.

Oh boy, JMS! With the epic work he did on B5, I'd be behind that!

JMS as in Joseph Michael Straczynski. Man behind Babylon 5 and several comic book stories including for Wonder Woman during his run. IMO his run with Wonder Woman is up there with Gail Simone's run as some of best stories based on that legendary but underrated character.

Wonder Woman underrated? I suppose you could make an easy case for it on a couple different levels, but it's just funny to think that considering how prolific she is.
