Franchise woes?

Here is a question. What do you consider a beloved franchise that has been so fragmented under stupid "creative" visions that it's a painful time to be fan of said franchise?

The obvious answers are Alien and Terminator. Granted both of those haven’t been good since about 1993 but there’s always *just* enough good ideas in each new entry that you think for a second they might turn it around.

Star Wars, Star Trek, Valiant Comics, Marvel Comics and movies.
Jury is out:

Dragon Ball. Everything past the first timeskip is a mess.
Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Dune. I don't mind the games meandering off into their own continuity. I love both the TV series and the Lynch movie for very different reasons and explaining why the Lynch movie is one of the best movies ever made, despite all it's flaws, is woeful at times. I don't mind the continuation novels that were based off of notes, written by the son after the father died. I do mind the prequel books very much though.
The SFDebris-forum project, at times.
Knights of Sidonia/Sidonia no Kishi. The harem-element taking over so prominently. The rest of the story and setting are more than strong enough to keep me not just interested, but very much invested, but still *groan*. Especially since this element comes so much out of left field, given the author's previous works.

A far as Harry Potter goes Fantastic Beasts haven't really raised confidence to franchise's future.

It's part of the SFDebris-Franchise, which currently consists of a Twitter-feed, a Facebook-handler, a video-based review page and a forum.
Also, it was a jokeas a reference to heated political discussions. Come on.
