Are Survival Horrors being milked too much?

Post by King Green »

Just finished 60% of the new RE:3 remake and will continue after I do laundry but a quick question comes to mind, "Why are zombies constantly being re-used? Is the Horror gerne being milked too much for the fans to grow immune to the stories and enemies the devs throw at them? And why is Jill becoming a walking "Rape-Me" target every time I try to kill those damned spiders?!

What do you lot think? And if replaying the game I recommend knocking Nemisis out with 3 grenades to grind for gun upgrades in the early game.

There had been somewhat of a drought on real survival horror games. RE3 was always the more action focused of the classic games before RE4 took over.

I hated those bugs as well. Any time I see them, I shoot.

I think you mean save at least 3 grenades because it takes just one each time for him to drop a box

There is no doubt that Capcom has been nailing it with these RE remakes (as well as with RE7 and DMC5) so besides of things they have done with they fighting games they have been on roll. Now if only they brought back Breath of Fire, Onimusha and Sengoku Basara.

Fun Fact: I am the only person in the history of the world to have ever completely misunderstood how to play Resident Evil 4. I played the game as a survival horror game doing my best to only engage a minimum number of enemies, dodge around them, and avoid them to every place I didn't have to fight to move on. As a result, I had only a tiny amount of ammunition and money for almost the entirety of it. A friend of mine was genuinely stunned that it was even possible to play it this way.

I had similar problems, but that was because I couldn't aim worth a damn. If they do REmake 4, I hope they adopt the shooting from REmake 2 & 3.

I am more than a bit disappointed at the fact they're going to be doing RE4. I'd much prefer a Code: Veronica, or even Zero and original remake. I don't think that RE4 will benefit from this current engine and that it really needs an update.

My biggest curiosity will be in in RE4's potential story and tone changes. Its not hard to imagine Capcom making it darker and cutting down some of the cheese, even though that's why many fans love it.

IMO RE2 and RE3 really needed remakes while RE4 doesn't need that that much since it's rather modern RE game while also having been already ported so many times.

Well except for that last part, I assume the Resident Evil makes in particular are just prime material for makeovers as far as games go in general.

How am I the practically only person who can't use these controls? Almost everyone else I've come across thinks the game is literally perfect.
